Hello! In thinking about your question I’m asking myself whether “important to us” means importance on a personal basis, or importance in the community or society in which we live? Please clarify what you have in mind regarding this distinction.
On going down either of those two roads, you will find a ton of relevant literature on the Internet or in books. Might it be helpful for you to extract some key points from this literature and then come back with some questions that are related to those points, and perhaps add some important questions that you see not being addressed in the literature?
If you are a newbie as I am, then in case no one has told you, your post is likely to go off “into the wilderness” very soon. So you will need to think about finding the people who are in your community of interest and engaging their particular attention.

This is just speaking personally. Okay? I still find your request too general given all the pressure on my time. Please consider selecting one or more currencies of great interest to you, do your homework about them, and then come back with some specific questions about existing/potential pros and cons. That allows those of us who know those currencies to sink our teeth into your questions and respond promptly in a hopefully useful way.
