There are more than 189 known masternode coins, the best known being DASH. But to be a DASH masternode will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars now (1000 DASH).
I have been looking for nodes in the $100-$3000 range usually ranking 100+ on Coinmarketcap, as many of the top CMC coins very expensive masternodes I cannot afford.
There are many in the $100 range but most are only a few months old, and are only listed on one or two exchanges. They have moderated discord and bitcointalk threads so I am concerned.
Resources to finding masternodes:
I use two sites for finding masternode coins:
masternodes.online
mnode.club
Datapoints I found important.
- Coinmarketcap rank
- Reddit page? If so how many subscribers, I click new and see what the community sentiment is over the last few weeks.
- Bitcointalk thread start date will tell you when they got involved with the general crypto community. A good way to find a coins age quickly. Also a quick read through the lastest pages on the ANN.
- Is there closed discussion or open discussion? Check for moderation on Bitcointalk, Discord, Telegram and other platforms.
I am sure there are more coins, but this has kept be quite busy in my search for coins to consider. More research needs to be done, and these is my personal opinion. Do your own research and if you think anything different than what I state please let me know.
A few coins Ive taken note of:
Coin: Corez
Rank: none, just got listed on crypto-bridge exchange.
Price: $.25 (https://www.coinranker.net/cryptocurrency/Corez)
Current MN cost: $474
Bitcointalk thread OP date: 3-2018 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3064429.0)
Reddit check: Has subreddit / OK community, very small.
An attempt to address public healthcare, they are very new but keeping an eye on them.
Coin: Smartcash
Rank: 100 (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/smartcash/)
Price: $.12
Current MN cost: $1236
Bitcointalk thread OP date: 12-2017 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2560430.0)
Reddit check: Has subreddit / OK community / has over 2k subscribers
Zcash fork without Masternode voting. 70% reward goes to community outreach and voting plans, compared to only 10% with pivix and dash. So governance is based on the coin holders more than the miners flagging like in Bitcoin or Masternode holders like in DASH.
Coin: Desire
Rank: 868 (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/desire/#charts)
Price: $.22
Current MN cost: $221 (https://masternodes.online/currencies/DSR/)
Bitcointalk thread OP date: 10-2017 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2272607.0)
Reddit check: Has reddit / 86 subscribers at the time
I found this coin looking for masternode videos on Youtube, Seems straight forward but nothing sticks out about this coin.
Conclusion: Out of the three listed, Smartcash seems to have a bright future. Desire is probably the easiest to set up, based on the youtube video and low cost. Corez has a nice idea and I will keep an eye on it.
As I find more coins I will post about them.
i believe someday imma get my nodes fixed that crypto dream.

You have some broken masternodes? Yeah it seems with 10 of them you can make a decent living and keep you fed.
