Cryptocurrency funds seem to appear all over the place to somehow close the gap between the cryptosphere and the world of traditional investments. The Coinbase Custody is just one example of those funds that enable everyone to invest in cryptocurrency without any specific knowledge being necessary.
I'm excited to see this movement happening but at the same time I'm slightly concerned about it as people miss the actual point of using cryptocurrency, which is the possibility to keep 100% control over your funds via the private keys. Of course they are not owned by you with any investment into those funds...
What's your opinion?
Is it a good thing that we see all those crypto funds or are you rather of the opinion that it's the exact opposite?

As long as it helps adoption growth it's good to me. Not everyone knows how to deal with fiat money in their personal family, this is why banks and personal finance advisors exist. We cannot pretend everyone to understand and manage by themselves in cryptocurrencies.

nothing wrong with that. But people have to realise, cryptocurrencies and funds are not meant as profit-maker tool, but as world changing money flow system.

I agree with the fact that people are not really using cryptocurrency as intended. Right now, it's being mainly used for trading and speculation - just to make a profit. Only a handful of people are probably using cryptocurrency to do things, for example - Steem.
Actually, there's probably a lack of good, usable projects in the market right now.

People have so many different objectives and values. I think whatever gets people started is a good thing, then they can learn more and be wiser as time goes by. There is not enough authority yet in this space to easily find information one can rely on to invest wisely from day 1.
