6 Solid Reasons You Know Cryptocurrency is About to go MainstreamsteemCreated with Sketch.

1. Your Venture Capital startup tech bro friend in San Francisco whom you haven’t spoken with in a year suddenly sends you a Facebook message:

“Will you be my crypto investment advisor?”

You answer politely:

“I’m sorry but I don’t give out investment advice. However, did you know that a brand-new decentralized cloud computing project, iEx.ec, just ended their token sale?”

2. Your Facebook acquaintance in Los Angeles who works in media for Saatchi & Saatchi whom you’ve never spoken to suddenly messages you about your recent Bitcoin spike price post.

And in this new message to you about the recent Bitcoin price spike, he tells you that he is very interested in learning all about these decentralized altcoin spaces. And if that weren’t enough, he might actually be interested in partnering with you on a new decentralized project. You’ve never even had a Facebook conversation with this acquaintance in the five years you’ve known him and now suddenly you’re almost zeitgeist bffs and halfway into brokering some sort of deal that sniffs of mainstream advertising.

3. Your mom finally breaks down and buys $500 worth of DASH from you after hearing about the ridiculous amount of profit you’re making daily from your crypto trades.

Your mom is sick of hearing about the daily profits from your Ethereum, DASH, Bitcoin, Steem and Decred investments. She finally succumbs, and decides to give you $500 in exchange for 5.6 DASH. A week later she’s happy because she’s made $78 without having to leave the house.

4. A circus freak has just submitted a proposal to the DASH DAO.

In a rare first, a member of a prominent European circus submits a proposal to the DASH DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). You’ve seen many ATM proposals, and other assorted nerdgasm proposals, like a DASH-branded beverage dispenser, but a circus freak? No, this is a first. Crypto is about to go mainstream.

5. Some random white collar business dude in your city just gave you a notification on Facebook that he will be attending your Digital Currency Happy Hour event that is from your DASH For Newbies Facebook Page.

You’ve never met this particular business dude, but he’s been searching for a digital currency meetup in his city, and he hunted you down on Facebook because of it. He often sends you Facebook messages asking if you own certain shitcoins.

6. Your next door neighbor suddenly shows up unannounced and demands to know how to use his private keys on Steemit.com.

You’re going about your usual business on a Thursday evening, obsessively checking Coinmarketcap, and suddenly there’s a knock on your door. It’s your neighbor Dave, the guy who smokes a lot of weed. He looks frantic and in a booming voice says,

“I need to know how to use my private keys on Steemit! Can you help me?”

You ask Dave a series of questions, first starting with the basics of what computer system he’s using and device specifics. You first give him the rundown on security and repeat over and over:

Steemit is now your bank. Don’t lose your keys! You can’t ever get those keys back, so your key security is the most important thing. Steemit is your bank now. Private keys are your lifeline. DON’T LOSE YOUR KEYS AND DON’T STORE YOUR PRIVATE KEYS ON YOUR COMPUTER OR SMARTPHONE!

Yep, cryptocurrency is about to go mainstream. And then you get a Ned flag.

haha in fact my mom told me yesterday how to buy a few bucks!!! hah, right on!!!

and i almost forgot.. she is now on steem.it!!! how cool is that??

when you look for bitcoin or cryptocurrency on google it looks something like :

makes me happy :)
keep spreading the news! upvoted!

right you are!

holy crap! I did a Google trend search for "bitcoin" the other day, but not cryptocurrency! amazing news!!!

Love the post! I am one of those people who actually doesn't know much at all about the crypto world, I enjoy the creative side of designing and creating, but I also love that a platform like this might someday be a place to really be able to invest those qualities deeply in and be rewarded/compensated for it!

There is defiantly a lot more noise out there right now than there was even a year ago when I stumbled across Steemit and the crypto world.

it's weird to think that we're all ahead of the curve......I guess some people didn't dive as deep as me....I went all in, quit all my jobs and starting building up business ideas on here and elsewhere.

Brilliant. I have a few of my own and always think its funny when someone tells me something I told them six months ago. Or wonder why they didnt buy BTC at $300 and change. Its all vision. Can you see the landscspe or not and most people just go about their lives as others own 50+ cryptos and own pounds of precious metals. If you dont own at least 10-20 index cards or post-its with private keys and passwords and different emails than you aren't going to get rich on this future global dark money.

i've been looking for a facebook replacement since 2014

Yes, I think a lot of people feel this way. They just don't know there's an alternative.

I ONLY use STEEMIT to make content and only use YouTube and STEEMIT as content input, and the random podcast or news article.

ha ha, nice.

I'm now getting a Facebook account to check for these signs.

it's crazy. I am being messaged everywhere, and i cannot keep up.......

Your lucky people found your post! I barely can get $0.05 on a single post!

Errrr.... We all started like that buds.. In three months my total earnings on over 200 posts was less than $2.... Persevere, post quality content and interact.... {adds 7c to stpro1 reward...goes over to check his blog}

Everyone has an extremely slow start on this website, I know feel just a teensy bit less bad of my rewards

It seems you need to comment, add value and build an audience. Good luck. I'm just starting.

Good luck to you to!

hahaha this is spot on. So many people are messaging me on facebook asking how to buy this and/or that crypto. They will also be the first to start saying crypto is rubbish as it goes down a few %...

I imagine this was like the dotcom boom of the late 90's... Hopefully it ends differently with crypto though!

Are people who call themselves "bitcoinmillionaire" really bitcoin millionaires?

Good question - I am not a bitcoinmillionaire. However, I do share my Bitcoin holdings every month here - https://www.bitcoin-millionaire.com/my-btc-wallet/

Even sign the cold wallet to prove it. I have about $90k worth of Bitcoins as of today. My goal is to get to the millionaire mark eventually :D

Congratulations @stellabelle!

BTFD!

buy the fucking dope?

Buy the fucking dip. It means the crash is temporary inside the expansion due to shit you mentioned in this post. Crypto is as cheap as it's going to get for a while IMO.

https://steemit.com/btcc/@aggroed/we-won-btcc-btfd-and-daniel-isn-t-the-karate-kid-a-contrarian-s-guide-to-today-s-pervasive-thoughts

i know. i was fucking with you.

Shit. Didn't come across in text. Did I just mansplain then?

yeah, I just came from Tuck-fheman's last comic.....it says:
Y U NO
BTFD
explanations were below it.

mansplain

well, i will give you that: it's hard to detect sarcasm in text.

Also, how'd she make the $78 with DASH. Trading? or what? I don't know enough about it and oyu have me interested now.

well, she made a purchase when it was around $80 and she's going to HODL it for a while, at least until Evolution is released. She checks her Jaxx wallet obsessively now and calculates how much the Dash price has gone up.

So, nothing functional about the coin. Simply bought low and it went up since then? Like Dope Coin has staking so people are catching new coin from that. This is just straight up good market timing?

I wanted to make sure she bought it when it was low (below $90) and before Evolution. That's all.

So, she didn't sell it, but if she did, she would have made a profit. It's a mental thing.....

This dip may be the last one we get in BTC that is below 10K. It could go as low as 1000 IMO, but catching the falling knife is a tricky business. If you've got some fiat, now would probably be a good time to pull it out.

Yes buy the dope. Sooth the pain.

Buy the Failed Dip?

Part of this is happening now!
Interesting predictions @stellabelle!

great...rs and upvote for u....

u r welcome...

It's about to explode into the mainstream world. I'm so excited for it. Wish I had figured all this stuff much sooner. haha.

we can apply what we have learned and act on that.
Buy The Fucking Dip

Ceratinly, some cryptocurrencies will go mainstream! And Steem is one of them that will be first adopted by the main public !!!

Can't wait till crypto goes mainstream. It's going to be exciting times :D

Or you could take all those points to mean we are in a bubble.

Mainstream is coming.

haha very promising indeed :)

can i ask you a weird question? Did you enter Steemit as an investor?

Yes I did, well sort of

I enjoy writing comedy (at least attempts at comedy), although prior to this I've only played hashtag games on twitter.

I've wanted to write longer form comedy for a while but could never both with jumping through the hoops to get myself established on buzzfeed or cracked, not too sure if I have enough talent there, but hopefully my stuff isn't too bad.

Steemit was probably the second cryptocurrency I ran into as I just started investing in this sector. Given my interests it was a natural fit and I decided to throw a decent amount of money here. Another use for powering up that is often overlooked is that it gives potential content creators the ability to expedite the career on the platform directly and get noticed quicker.

Of course I did deem Steem to be undervalued at the time and it rose shortly after I finished filling out my position. While that was fortunate, I'm now in an awkward position of being stuck somewhere between an investor and content creator. I'm acutely aware that my posts are overvalued due to my stake, and try to compensate by toning down posting frequency to leave more of the rewards pool to others.

interesting. thanks for answering....I did look at your wallet, and wow, amazing.

well thank you
but yeah aside from broadly deeming Steem to be undervalued, that part was mostly just luck
I honestly enjoy using the platform and writing comedy
I suppose for an investor my size it's borderline not worth posting anything if I didn't actually enjoy it. I hope at least some people find them entertaining

I am definitely among those "some people" that find your post entertaining.

And, just like you, I enter Steemit as an investor. It was one of several recommendations by the investment newsletter "Palm Beach Confidential" from the Palm Beach Research Group.
I bought most of my Steam Powers at an average price of 13 cents.

And now, like you, I am both an investor and a contributor.

oh cool, I didn't know that. So, the investment advisor suggested Steem? Interesting.

Yes, and over time they have recommended Bitcoin, Monero, Peer Plays, Lykke, Steem and Dash.

ahh cool, and what a great investment it's turned out to have been
followed :)

Writing is my main disease, so obviously this coin has immense utility for me.

Looks like our little blockchain is all grown up :)

Yeah I'm getting people coming out of the wood work who acted like I was a scammer talking about crypto currencies in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Suddenly I guess I have some insight.

My friends and some of my family still think steemit is a scam. So does my entrepreneur mentor.

It doesn't surprise me. Most people are first going to be disolutioned if somehow someone found a way to make money not having a "real job" because ultimately they are jealous if they had to go to a job everyday for decades and somehow someone else didn't have to do that. So they will discredited it out of jealousy.

Secondly the difference between something we consider to be legitimate and something to be a scam is such a fine line. Most people would agree that Amway and Herbalife is inherently a scam but those companies are still legally able to operate in the United States and most other companies despite having 99% of their distributors losing money in what is being pitched as a money making opportunity. Even stuff like Twitter could be considered a scam because it will never make money and so investment in it has been more about passing the hot potato. Most venture capitalist probably knew it would never have a profitable model but that doesn't really matter. If they are in early and it goes public or gets bought out by a bigger fish then they are able to capitalize and on down the line somewhere there will be a lot of bag holders.

You know who I think is a scam?
UBER.
I worked as an Uber driver and I can tell you there is very little money to be made. If you own a SUV or a truck, you'll lose money. Some nights I waited around an hour, then got one ride, which was to drive a couple across town. Guess how much that ride cost? $5. Guess how much I got? $4.30. The only way to make any money is work the drunk shift, concerts, the like. Day time Uber in mid sized cities is a scam. No money hardly at all.

I hear you on that. I never drove for them or Lyft but I suspected this to be true in most markets. Where it sort of becomes a scam is when they are pitching on the radio that you can make $18 / hour. Most people can't calculate the expenses and wear and tear on their vehicles to really know what they are making.
Like most opportunities they sell HOPE. But in my opinion those aren't near as bad as all the MLMs out there.

They don't pay for the gas to pick someone up either. So, let's say Im in a city and I get a request from 45 minutes away. Uber doesn't pay for the gas to pick them up. These "sharing" platforms are nothing but centralized slave operations. It's not the sharing economy at all.

Yeah it makes sense. I get what you are saying about being slave operations. From their perspective it makes a ton of sense. Displace the risk to the end operator. I used to really feel that way about Adsense as well. That it was a new form of slave labor. That is part of the reason I have never focused in on Adsense as a revenue stream on YouTube. A person has to almost be subsidized for a long period of time and everything has to fall into place for the magnitude of their channel to get big enough to make extra ordinary sums of money from Adsense. I still think that YouTube is an interesting opportunity though.

I have around 500,000 combined video views, and make about $10 per month on Youtube......not great.

true dat.

oh do you ever. just wait, 10,000 'crypto experts' will soon be spamming all airwaves. just watch.

YUP

haha really nice :) that are some awesome signs ;) really looking forward to the mainstream adoption ;)

You are exactly right.
my mom asked me what the cryptocurrency was

It's just a hunch, and no one knows exactly when something will pop, but i think it's close now.

I' m in confidence that the cryptocurrency is the mainstream.
Through the history of the currency, we can get to the right conclusion.

Found this old post. 1 year on still no sign of mainstream adoption. Those stories you told of random people suddenly showing an interest in crypto were signs the bubble was about to burst. When your barber and your taxi driver mention crypto it's about to dip. Everyone wants to get into crypto during a bull run. Now we are in a protracted bear market in 2018 not so much. My barber and my taxi driver have cut their losses long ago. And still no sign of mainstream adoption. Just being realistic. I am still bullish on crypto in the long term, it is just taking longer to go mainstream than this post suggested and mainstream adoption is a totally different kettle of fish to the price. I think now is the time to buy crypto, not whilst every random is wanting to buy it.

completely agree...sooner or later, it will!

Where shall I store my keys?
I was talking abut you last night at a BBQ - this guy and I agree on very little. He mentioned krypto currency and suddenly I could share about your story - you saved an evening in England! THank you.
I didn't see who posted this.... and then got to the place about your mom - and thought "stellabelle!"

on a flash drive. Don't leave them on your computer

Thanks.

lol this is perfect! I can't even tell you how many random people have messaged me asking about bitcoin or alt coins and how they can buy some. definitely going mainstream

I've been trying to spread the good word of crypto to some of my buddies and they aren't biting yet. It's kind of annoying because they're tech types but are still ignorant and won't take the time to look into them. Sad.

Congratulations for the badge and also nice article to read.
Thanks

Thanks for these compiled reports. It's super important to understand indirect updates related to the crypto ecosystem

Oh crap, was hoping my mother would not find out what I am up to!

This is just great! I laughed all the way through. Keep it up @stellabelle.

hahahahahah o this is so good. thank you once again @stellabelle

left field is always a delight

Very cool post. Love all of yours, but its crazy cuz my mom last night talked to me about investing some for the both of us. She knows i have a fraction of a bitcoin but want to get a "whole one."

oh yes! Make the shift.....now before anyone misses the boat.

I'd buy the cheaper stuff myself....

something which has more room to grow is what you are suggesting? Its a possibility but i believe the most secure, growth wise, of them all would be bitcoin.

i bought RLC not too long ago...

I knew it was going mainstream when I got hit up to join a Bitcoin MLM/crowdfunding scheme...the vultures have been awakened!

this was a wildly creative and fun post to read. you def rock!! big upvote

great, i am glad you liked it.

holy fuck, im not ready for mainstream crypto!

Thanks Stellabelle great work love the read.
