There has been various speculations as to the cause, but the one sure thing is that this occurs every year, in the same week.
The cryptos would always bounce back and be better. It's true, some of the smaller coins may not survive the sale, but that is not bad overall for the market.
ITS BUYING SEASON and it's time to HODL.
I personally expecting steem to make a very huge leap after this period. I believe in the two weeks when everything's on the rise again, very few would remember this period.
