It wouldn't have been such an uproar had they announced it. I think it's some play on publicity to draw in more BNB investors. The fact they didn't announce leaves them in the spotlight and if they pull it off successfully, they have the spotlight of a nice chunk of the crypto world commending them for their efforts and changing peoples views on the situation.
