BlockchainNW Conference Review

in cryptocurrency •  6 years ago

As many of you know, I have spent a couple of years in the Crypto rabbit hole so to speak (Shoutout to Hoppe). A couple of weeks ago I went to a blockchain conference here in Seattle. BlockchainNW. There were pros and cons with the event. The event generally reinforced within me the sentiment that there are many, very questionable projects in the space as of now.

There were a few things that stood out as outstanding:

  1. Stably founder, Kory Hoang had a really good explanation of the stable coin market. It was understandable and gave a full overview of the economics that are involved. It begged many questions about regulation and competition around the dollar standard. The environment seems like it will create microcosms of lending etc. It was thoroughly compelling.
  2. The willingness of people to converse openly about their projects was awesome. And the connections made were pretty brilliant. Some of the people in attendance were really movers and shakers in the space. It was nice to be able to talk to them afterwards.
  3. Burstcoin representatives spoke about proof of capacity. A new consensus algo that is very cheap compared to POW. Interesting concept that will be explored throughout the next year+.
