Gaming: A Glorious Time Waster
I have been playing games as long I can remember. It started with my parents’ Atari. Continued through Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and PC all the way through the current generation of consoles and mobile gaming. Some may argue that it’s a giant waste of time, but for me and millions of people around the world, there is no better use of your free time. Gaming let’s you (virtually) experience things that you could never do in real life. Want you fight aliens and save the day? No problem. Want to re-live historical events? You got it. Want to compete in front of thousands of people for championships and prize money? E-sports has what you are looking for. You can even do all of these things while riding the bus now thanks to mobile technology. There is a world of possibility and imagination created by gaming. Somewhere along the way, all of the good things about gaming seemed to fade and it became more about money and greed rather than fun.
Gone are the days of old when video games weren’t considered a widespread, mainstream activity. This has brought a lot of good, but it also lends itself to corporate greed. Annual titles released with minor tweaks and sold as a whole new game. Day 1 DLC, season passes, and micro transactions on AAA releases. Ridiculous, over the top marketing campaigns. Preorder bonuses that amount to little expect the consumer committing to a title before they can read reviews. There are a TON of things that need to corrected with the industry.
Enter: Game Loot Network
Game Loot Network (GLN) is an up and coming cryptocurrency project operating the Ethereum blockchain. In the mobile gaming industry, Google Play and the App Store are essentially gatekeepers on what gets attention. Their goal is democratize the gaming industry and give the power of choice back the consumers. LOOT tokens are the gas that makes the whole machine run. LOOT can be used in a number of different ways including tournament entrance fees, game purchases, developer funding, and in game boosts and bonuses. GLN’s tagline includes three main points: Build, Play, Earn.
Build
As mentioned above, users of the GLN platform have the ability to help funding independent games that they believe in. They would supply the developer will LOOT tokens and in exchange, they would receive a share of the future earning from that game. With this system, games that have a lot of support will receive the funding they need to be successful.
Play
This point is fairly self-explanatory. There will be a decentralized App Store that users can download games from and play on the platform. Games developed under “Build“ will also end up here. As previously mentioned, there will be competitive tournaments that have awesome prize pools.
Earn
The most exciting part about the GLN platform is the ability to earn LOOT tokens in a number of ways. I’ve already discussed crowdfunding and getting a percentage of the earnings as well as tournament prize pools. In addition to these ways, users can earn LOOT tokens through the referral system. Residual commissions are made based on the users you bring in and their activity on the platform. GLN will also introduce an exciting system called Battle Bidding where user compete for prizes such as electronics or stashes of LOOT.
How can you get LOOT?
LOOT tokens have a price of $0.35 USD with a total supply of 600,000,000. LOOT tokens can be acquired in a number of different ways.
1. Token Sale. Currently, GLN is holding a SAFT private sale which includes varying bonuses based on the date of purchase. The GLN public sale is scheduled to begin May 29, 2018. The soft cap is $50 million and the hard cap is $75 million.
2. Bounty Program. GLN is hosting a generous bounty program on BitcoinTalk. The thread is linked here. Users can earn LOOT for spreading the word about GLN. Bounty bonus is up to $1.5 million!
3. Social Media Giveaways. The GLN team has been distributing LOOT to loyal followers through airdrops, quizzes about GLN, and contests, such as the most creative game idea. This will be the easiest way to earn LOOT. Follow of social media to stay up to date.
