Hey there, if you're interested in AEON like me, but you're new to mining, i'm sure you're asking yourself how you can start mining them. Well look no further! I'll show you exactly what you'll need to do in order to start mining.
The easiest method of mining AEON is by using Minergate. Minergate is a program you can download that is an all-in-one miner, where you can start mining AEON, Ethereum, Monero, and many other coins. While it is easy, I have noticed that my hashrate is a bit lower when using it.
The upside is that your wallet is self-contained in the account you create on the Minergate website. Head to: https://minergate.com/ and hit Sign Up at the top right. Once you've created an account, you can download the program from their downloads page https://minergate.com/downloads/gui
The program can either use Smart Mining, which automatically chooses the most profitable coin, or you can select the coin you want to mine yourself. (NOTE, Minergate only allows you to mine AEON with your CPU).
If you wish to use a more advanced method for mining AEON, you'll need to download an actual AEON wallet. I suggest https://poolele.com/download/aeon-wallet-gui-v1-0-2-1-windows-installer/
Once you've created a wallet, you then have to grab a Mining program, and point your miner to your wallet.
https://github.com/wolf9466/wolf-aeon-miner/releases
*Note, WOLF's miner only works with AMD graphics cards)
For Wolf's miner, you'll need to go into the AEON.Conf file and scroll right to change the URL to a pool of your choice (I use stratum+tcp://aeon.sumominer.com:3333). For Sumominer you need to create an account, and also go to your account page there and create a miner with a password. Once you've done that, go to the settings page, and put your REAL wallet address as the payour address on Sumominer's settings page. This is what you will put in the Conf file under your wallet address ("user" SumominerID.Workername "pass" WORKERPASSWORDHERE)
Once you've done that, you can start the miner and it will start to work for you!
Is it worth it? How much coins can one expect?
Thx for sharing.

It really depends on the kind of hardware you are running. For instance, I have a single RX 480 and a Ryzen 5 1600x CPU, and over the last month and a half, i've been able to mine around 30 of them. They are worth almost $8.00 right now. However, the difficulty is rising, so it's getting harder, but I feel that it is absolutely still worth it (depending on hardware, of course)

What's the average payout if you just use a standard pc? Worth it at all?

Please check out SuperPools.Online. They got AEON as well and it is 0.5% fee. Much better than Minergate.
