  • Do you live in a polluted city? Do you know who is accountable for the issue? Then what prevents the cause from getting addressed on large scale?
  • Is there mining of coal or methane gas extraction in a locality, against the wishes of the local population? Why can't the cause get wide-spread support from the public?
  • Aren't children in a town getting access to something as basic a right as education? This should be a global concern! Why can't all people come together to solve the problem?

The answer is Funding. Even if many people give vocal support, without monetary support, there is less chance that a cause will get the attention!

I came across this blockchain-based company - ACT - which promises to create a viable platform, in which any individual can give voice to the problems faced by a community in any part of the globe! - Europe, Africa, Australia, North America, South America, Asia or Antarctica!

The members of ACT platform vote on various social causes. If sufficient votes are gained, then based on a smart contract, funding is arranged for the cause. ACT members need to spend a small quantity of money to exhibit their voting right. This money is not part of the funding but it adds value to the vote and keeps the ACT platform stable.

How ACT functions

Blockchain technology brings assurance that the information that is provided in a medium - such as websites, smartphone applications and so on - are in its true form and not manipulable.

ACT is based on an upcoming technology called Blockchain - and this literally means, a chain of blocks. Proposal for obtaining funding contract can be submitted for a cause and ACT members would then support the cause by voting in a smartphone application provided by the company. Such applications are commonly called Decentralized Applications (DApp). The data is transmitted as a chain of blocks over Internet and a copy of this information is stored in an encrypted form, in multiple blockchain nodes/computers around the globe. The purpose - to keep member votes and proposal details secure, and prevent the information from getting tampered with.
