John McAfee is a former internet security entrepreneur, turned cryptocurrency bull. Yes, the same chap of McAfee Antivirus fame. If you have followed cryptocurrency over the past year, you would likely know that he has quickly become a notable figure, notorious for bold claims, as well as paid promotion. The latter has made him a controversial figure with some, while he had many detractors who disagree with his boisterous claims. He is perhaps most known for an incident where -on national television - he made a bet that if the Bitcoin price did not read a price evaluation of $1 Million, then he would eat his own manhood. Yes, that's right. In the bull-run of December 2017, he only doubled down. February, once the market had suffered a pullback, did not dampen this at all.
However, these claims have not been taken well by some. Some feel that such methods are uncouth, shine a poor light on the crypto market, or simply don't work. McAfee himself has also claimed that he believes himself to be a target of the SEC and other establishment entities. However, no substantial proof has ever arisen of such a feeling.
On twitter, McAfee made a cryptic proclamation after a three-day absence from the platform.
" I apologize for my three day absence but I was unconscious for two days at the Vidant Medical Center in North Carolina and just woke up. My enemies [managed] to spike something that I ingested. However, I am more difficult to kill than anyone can possibly imagine. I am back. " - @officialmcafee Jun 22 2018
" And for those who did this - You will soon understand the true meaning of wrath. I know exactly who you are. You had better be gone. " - John McAfee, Twitter
He tweeted this picture, with the above caption - claiming that he was the target of a poisoning while laying low. He had not been seen publicly in a while following his announcement that he would cease operating ICOs due to pressure from the powers at be. However, despite the knowledge that he had enemies, few suspected that he might be the victim of an attack. After just a few hours, he was already posting again - this time flipping off the camera or addressing his attackers on social media - whoever, and wherever, they might be.
" I'm leaving the hospital today. Doctors said no. Watch me. "
Despite the fact that McAfee posted a rather specific location for his recovery. some have still been rightfully skeptical of his claims. McAfee is known for garnering press with his antics, after all. Some users have zoomed in on the photographs to find the specific hospital he might be at. Upon calling them, they have so far received no confirmation from staff that anyone under the name John McAfee has a patient record there. But does this mean it's a sham? Did he climb into an empty hospital bed somewhere and stage the whole thing? Why North Carolina? Only time will tell.
