1000 followers and a little bit of brainteaser fun

in cryptography •  7 years ago

Hey guys

Fir𝚜tly, I wan𝚝 to thank each and 𝚎very one of my active followers for your amazing support. 1000 follow𝚎rs is not to be sniffed at and I'𝚖 very very grateful to all of you for sticking with me.

Secondly, I wanted to do something a bit fun to celebrate this milestone. Hidden in this 𝚙ost somewhere 𝚊re a few small technical braintea𝚜ers. Nothing too hard if you know about this kind of stuff. There are 3 𝚜teps to solve and the final result is a simple 𝚠ord. It involves the text and images from this post.

The first pers𝚘n to enter that word correctly in the comments below will win the SBD payout from this post. That could be absolutely nothing at all but hey, it's just a bit of fun, isn't it.

Here's a 𝚛andom picture to get you started. Pay close attention to this post and see what you can come up with.

If no-one gets it in a week or so then I'll start giving out clues.

Goo𝚍 luck folks

wow 1000 followers already- well done @markangeltrueman ;) and congrats on your last post! It's really Curie-worthy and I can't believe I missed that one out even though I followed you ! haha ... nice one :)

Steempassword ???
Congrats on all the followers!

You got the first bit. That’s the easy bit though

Oh... back to the drawing board!

Steemrobot ??

Nope, the first bit you worked out unlocks something secondary. That secondary thing is in no way obvious but it is something to do with the image. It's quite technical. That's all the clues im giving for now. :)

Oh gosh ... ok!! Will get back to thinking!

Unique picture

I love brain teasers but not familiar with this type yet :) It’s fun to mess around with it though, thanks! Congrats on the followers!

It was hard but I did it. Answer is Curie, isn't it?

Not quite (im being pedantic), but please explain the process you used to get to that answer....

Ok. Firstly, I get the word from the text steempassword (already mentioned). Then download the picture and open with notepad. Tried to find a word in file. Then deleted some lines in file and noticed that jpg was not broken. Then tried find another files.
Googled how to hide a file in image and found information about rar in image.
Changed the extension of jpg. So I found a file named final.png.
And I read the word CURIE! (and heart below)

WINNER

Your winning sbd will be sent once the post is closed for further upvotes in 5 days or so. Congratulations.

Thanks :)

So what does the steempassword bit have to do with it? I get how you get curie but if thats the answer you don't really need the first word?

Oh, archive has a password and this password was steempassword

Ah okay, thanks was wondering :)

Not sure I am good at this, but I wanted to ask if you'd be interested in judging Textures Thursday in the Nature Photo Contest next week. A little info about the contest can be found in the Introduction (to be updated with the new theme), and as examples you can see the Water Wednesday Submissions Post and the Water Wednesday Winners Post. Thanks for considering! :)

I've pinged you on Discord.. i think....

Hey! I have not used discord yet.. but I've been keeping in touch with judges via email! Would you mind connecting this way by sending me an email at [email protected]?

Done. not sure who i messaged on discord then, someone else called shadalene!

Interesting.. Although I might have signed up, but I know I didn't complete the process and haven't used it yet. Will have to check it out though!
