When it comes to influence on Steemit, Steem Power (SP) is everything. The more SP you have, the more you are able to influence the rewards a post gets by upvoting it. Because of this, it's easy for us minnows with little SP to get discouraged, especially if the content we post isn't drawing upvotes worth hundreds of Steem Dollars.
There is a solution. It's simple, though not necessarily easy given the current price of Steem on the market. It is important to realize that Steemit influence can be bought. And no, I don't mean, in the sense of bribing or paying off anyone. I mean that it really doesn't matter how you got the SP needed to increase the value of your upvote. If you can earn the SP by posting great content here and getting it upvoted, that's awesome. I encourage everyone to post high quality content, and even if it only earns pennies, those pennies still do increase your Steem Power, and therefore the value of your upvote, which means the amount of influence you have. However, you are also free to buy it on the market.
You can't buy Steem Power directly. You can either buy Steem, and send it to your Steemit account and then power it up, or you send Bitcoin to your Steem Power Bitcoin deposit address. You can find this in your wallet. Click on the down arrow by your Steem Power balance and select deposit. This will show a Bitcoin address. Any deposits made to that address will be automatically converted to SP.
How would you like to get weekly small guaranteed free increases in Steem Power?
In this article How to invest in promising cryptocurrencies using faucet earnings, I explain how to use the Moon Bitcoin faucet as the source of Bitcoin which can then be used to purchase your favorite promising altcoin.
If Steem Power is your goal, then use your SP Bitcoin deposit address as your faucet address and then hit the faucet hard. Moon Bitcoin allows you to make a claim every five minutes and it pays out weekly. The minimum payout is 10,000 satoshis and it's very easy to accumulate that amount within one week. If you keep at it, even though 10,000 satoshis is not a huge amount, getting it converted to SP week in and week out will add up over time. Remember, this SP has nothing to do with upvotes or content. If you visit the faucet and make the claim, you will get the SP.
Steem Power grows over time, even if you do nothing on Steemit. This means that for every Bitcoin deposit you make that gets converted to Steem Power, it's not just that discreet amount; it's that amount plus all the interest it will earn over the life of your account.
You can speed up the process by depositing Bitcoin from other sources. However, faucet earnings are free, so everyone can do them. While you're developing and posting your amazing content and hoping for the big break in terms of upvotes, go ahead and hit the Moon Bitcoin faucet to grow your Steem Power without upvotes.
Not a bad idea! #craigrant
