Unique collectible kitty cats. What's not to love? but don't be mistaken, these aren't just cute little collectible cat pictures. When you mix these adorable kitties with the crypto craze, you get one amazing fanatical addiction.
Each crypto kitty is special because they are created with an algorithm based on the Ethereum blockchain, more specifically they are created with a non-fungible token that is indivisible and unique.
But wait, there's more... these virtual kitty cats carry their very own 256-bit distinct genome with unique DNA. Each crypto kitty has different attributes that can be passed on to it's children and grand-children. Yes, this includes over four billion variations of phenotypes (what you can see) and genotypes (what you can't see) which all started with Genesis -
CryptoKitty #1.
This being said, trying to sort through the different attributes for these kitties can become overwhelming, as outlined here in the Cryptokitty Designer. You can even use these toggles to create the perfect kitty and search to see if it exists on cryptokitties.co (yet).
I was able to ease some of the sorting pain by installing a Google chrome Crypto Kitties Ultimate Extension ($3.99) that automatically tags the kitties attributes, and displays the most unique by different color tags.
So far the most expensive crypto kitty Founder Cat #18 was sold on December 6, 2017 for $110,707.16 USD (at this moment worth $207,229.48). You can see all of the Cryptokitties sales on a third-party created herokuapp here. Also, it's probably a good thing to keep in mind that Gen 0 kitties will only be available until November 2018, after this date all new kitties thereafter will only be created by breeding.
Here are my two of my Cryptokitties, oldes and youngest (so far).
