Cryptulips (tulip farming on Ethereum)

in cryptokitties •  7 years ago  (edited)

Someone was inspired by CryptoKitties and annoyed at people who compare cryptocurrencies to the "Tulip Mania" in the 1600s so the result was a site called https://cryptulips.co/ that lets you really buy virtual tulips on the Ethereum blockchain. Apparently there's been over 700 signups already so it could end up as popular as CryptoKitties 笑

Of course, CryptoKitties was enough to clog up the Ethereum blockchain, which can only handle about 15 transactions per second. After the EOS software is more mature it would be a good place for 100(1000?) different people to make that kind of apps. I've been looking at NEO too, which is called the "Chinese Ethereum" but so far their software seems quite different to Ethereum as it's not a clone, it just has similar smart contract features.

And even though the price of cryptocurrencies sometimes goes down, it's silly to say "Tulip Mania" or "It's not backed by anything" because of course fiat currencies like the USD and Euro aren't backed by anything either. They just have a better network effect, where even companies which sell things in cryptocurrency still pay part or all of their supply chain in fiat.
