Hello steemers! If you have forgotten, I want to remind you that there is strength in numbers and that principle will also work on Steemit. This is by no means a technical write-up; I am bringing to you one of my favorite Ghanaian Primary School English Comprehension stories to drive home my point. I hereby present you:
headerMr Gyebi and his 5 sons
A very long time ago, there was a man who was called Mr Gyebi. He lived in a village in Ghana called Mampar. He had five sons and a large cocoa farm.
His five sons worked on his farm, they planted the cocoa and they made money from the work they did on the farm. This is because they were always happy they got time to work on the farm.
Mr Gyebi was very happy with them. One day, Mr Gyebi said to his 5 sons; go to the forest and bring me some sticks so we can make a fence for our garden. But please! Don’t fight on the way. The brothers quickly went into the forest to get the sticks.
Each of them collected his sticks together and tied them into a bundle. Then they headed home with their bundles of sticks.
When they were going home Appah’s foot hit a stone. As he was falling, he crashed into Daako and
both of them fell down with their bundles of sticks.
Daako became angry and shouted Why did you push me? Appah answered, I didn’t see you, I was falling down. Daako said “you are a big liar” you pushed me.
He was very angry. All the brothers were angry and they talked and argued until they got home.
Mr Gyebi was very unhappy when he heard them arguing. At first he wanted to whip them but he didn’t.
Mr Gyebi called his son together. He told Kusi, the oldest son to take five sticks and tie them together into a bundle. Then he took the bundle and said “I want each of you to break this bundle.“ No one could break the bundle. The bundle was too strong for them to break.
Then Mr Gyebi took the sticks out of the bundle. He gave one to each of his son. He said now I want each of you to break his stick. This time it was easy, everyone broke his stick easily. Mr Gyebi spoke to his sons “ you could not break the bundle because the sticks were all together.“
You will be like one of the bundle of sticks. You will be very strong and happy together. If you are not together anyone can make you unhappy. After this the brothers did not fight again.
