The national Bank of Kazakhstan intends to prohibit all types of cryptocurrency mining, their purchase and sale for tenge and the activities of exchanges in this segment. This was reported by the head of the national Bank Daniyar Akishev, explaining that: "in Kazakhstan, the national Bank is very conservative on this issue, I welcome only quite severe restrictions. That is, we want to prohibit the purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies for the national currency, we want to ban the activities of exchanges in this segment and all types of mining." He stressed that cryptocurrencies have a lot of problems, the main of which is the protection of the rights of consumers of these services. The national Bank tries to minimize the risks associated with the national market. Another great risk is the possibility of using cryptocurrencies to commit illegal actions. Cryptocurrencies are just the perfect tool for money laundering and tax evasion. According to Akishev, the Central Bank's tough stance on cryptocurrencies is supported by the majority of state bodies of Kazakhstan. All the necessary amendments to the legislation, which should lead to tighter regulation, have already been prepared by the regulator. We will remind, in October 2017, it became known that Kazakhstan may launch a cryptocurrency that is secured with paper money. International financial centre "Astana" (AIFC) and the investment company EXANTE announced the agreement on the development of the market of cryptocurrency assets in Kazakhstan. EXANTE began to prepare the launch of the Stasis platform, which was to become the basis for a new digital asset provided with paper money. In mid-November 2017, Kazakhstan established the Association of blockchain and cryptocurrency, the purpose of which is to promote technological ideas and bills in this area.
