Git with Cryptocurrency could be REVOLUTIONARY

For folks, who don't come from development background,
Git is a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency. (ref: https://git-scm.com/)

In easy words, software developers use Git to maintain their code. It helps them in sharing and cloning their repositories with other developers. Contributions and versioning can easily be done using Git.

Git was developed by Linus Torvalds in 2005. He originally wrote it to maintain Linux Kernel with some other developers. Later, it was published as a free and open source software under GNU General Public License ver 2.

Nowadays, open source software are shared across Git platform for anyone to use and develop. According to Git, in 2017, there were 20 million repositories hosted on Git and over 57 million users making it the largest source code host in the world. It all comes down to contributing to the open source community and the urge to develop and offer better solutions. This is essentially how open source community works. But to be very honest, most of the open source community depends on geeks and underground programmers/developers, and there are no or very less monetary benefits for those who choose to help in any way.

Last time I shared an idea on how Cryptocurrency can replace in-game currency/point. You can read it here (https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@bilalshaw/replacing-game-coins-with-cryptocurrency). This time, the idea is to offer Cryptocurrency to those who help develop a certain project on Git. Since, most of the times, the problem for great ideas is that they can't afford a good software development team, therefore a project can offer Cryptocurrency to the developers upon a successful merge in the production branch. Could also help those who raise issues and help resolving those issues. Possibilities are unlimited. This obviously, is a very vague idea but I am looking out to discuss this idea in detail.

Do let me know what you think about this idea.

Cheers
