ELEAGUE MAJOR 2018 Main Qualifier: Day 3

Flipsid3 and Flash have gone home. Now four new teams face elimination in this highly competitive tournament.

So long, Flipsid3

Lots of internal issues have plagued Flipsid3 this tournament. The fact that the "only" play majors resulted in them not showing up strong and failing to qualify for a spot in the playoffs. Seized, former NaVi player, does not even show up in a Flipsid3 jersey to an interview. AVANGAR obliterating them on de_train with an end score of 7-16. Lots of questions about their team structure from all sides. This might be the last time we see Flipsid3 on a big LAN tournament, they did not come prepared to this tournament.

Flash Gaming going home

Flash Gaming, only Asian team in the tournament, got eliminated while playing against EnVyUs. They did manage to put up quite a fight, though. For the Asian CS scene still being underdeveloped, the chance to compete in an international environment must truly be great. Props to them holding their ground in the most important tournament of the year.

My predictions - Have they held up?

Earlier today, I wrote about what matches I looked forward to. Here are the results of my predictions. Was I right? Read to find out!

Flash Gaming vs. EnVyUs

I was right about Flash going home. Even with rpk being sick, EnVy managed to come out on top at the end of the action-packed game. Some nice clutches helped Flash to push forward, but in the end the experience and skill of the Frenchmen was too much to handle.

Sprout vs. Natus Vincere

NaVi showed up very strong today. With 3 of NaVi's more inconsistent players showing up and giving everything they got, Sprout didn't stand a chance. MVP of the match clearly being NaVi's electronic with 23 kills and only 6 deaths as well as an ADR of over 130.

The Germans are now on the edge of being eliminated. Let's hope if so, they at least don't go without a fight.

What I watched

Flipsid3 vs. AVANGAR

AVANGAR clearly dominated the pace of the game for the whole match. Flipsid3 looking confused and uncoordinated, AVANGAR players to managed to slip behind enemy defenses. Even the casters were glad when the match was finally over. buster is being considered one of the upcoming talents from the CIS region.

Flipsid3 finally leaving the major team pool will clear the way for newer, motivated teams to come.

I am looking forward to Day 4, since there will be two teams who are going 3-0 and securing themselves a spot in the playoffs.
