Short and Sweet #23 - Twiddling your thumbs can lead to complacency

There are quite a few of you out there that would agree with this

I function much better when there are a lot of things to do, I can work my way through them and get a sense of satisfaction when they have been completed. And once one is completed then another will always present itself.

However

Every now and then I find myself in a situation where there is not much to do, and I become whispy, dreamy and having to have strong doses of coffee to pretend to wake me up.

It is moments like these that I become complacent and can be more prone to making mistakes. My thinking is no longer sharp (not that thinking is sharp, I mean its not all pointy in the way you may feel it)(but the metaphor is a good example of cross modal processing) directional or quick enough to spot the errant quotation mark, spelling error or large elephant in the room. (Not a metaphor)

It is when we keep busy that we are going to be more likely to succeed and be assured that we are doing the right things. I don’t make anywhere near as many errors when I am really busy. My brain is clear, My sight is clear and my thought processes are focused on the task at hand.

It is better to stay busy and succeed than to be complacent through inaction.

Decision making is a lot harder when your mind is not moving, When you are not deliberately moving forwards then you tend to look at this and look at that and then decision paralysis (Yes that’s a thing) sets in and you end up not making decision at all

The answer is to just do it, they say that if you have an idea to do something and you do not take action within 5 seconds you are less likely to do it.

Be an action taker, keep your mind active and make that decision.

That thing about 5 seconds... I'm using a trick with that... When I got an idea, I've got 5 sec to write it down somewhere... If not, it's lost... :) (Usually happens when I go to bed, and turn off the lights and everything... lol)

It's late for creating a post, but it's not late to take a note about it!

I like this and its true I have better ideas and things are easier when i stay busy.

Tu sangat Bagus teman baikku. Saya menikmati nya, semoga sukses selalu dan di berkati nya..

You are definitely right about if " you do not take action within 5 seconds you are less likely to do it". I have learned that I have to make notes within my phone on the regular that I review later in the day to ensure that I consider my thoughts of the day with a reflection. Great post.
