I want to write majorly on the atilogwu dance,
Atilogwu dance is the major art form expressed in the eastern part of nigeria, atilogwu is also known as Acrobatic dance simply because of the flips, turns ans the jumps ofbtue dancers, its a very interesting sight to behold, the sigyt of itbis mindblowing. Atilogwu dance doesnt involve flipping all through or jumps all through, there are skilled dancers who also showcase their footwork.
Atilogwu dance is the most popular and its one of the oldest dance, people would say atilogwu is a youth dance performed by agile youths, but even the older ones can dance so far they have the strength, just like the event i attended, it was a coronation, the dance was performed by older men dancing, jumping and flipping. I was shocked when a maj old enough to be my dad was flipping, he was kinda fat, i was really trilled. The atilogwu dance is usually accompanied with fast music produced by different traditional musical instrument such as drums, flute called "opi", a metal gong called " ogene" and a beaded gourd called "ichaka". The atilogwu dance is usually performed on important occasions such as coronation, festivals and marriages.
