The world consumes 1.4 billion cups of coffee a day and in Finland they are using the residue to make ecological shoes.

The Finnish brand RENS came up with the use of borra (coffee after being used), as a raw material for making footwear that after fulfilling its useful life is mostly biodegradable.

For the manufacture of the shoe, polyester obtained from plastic is used, according to the manufacturer involved 21 cups of ground coffee and 6 plastic bottles for each pair.

The rest of the materials also come from responsible sources, the removable woven upper template and the inner lining are made of reusable coffee threads that can be changed between different pairs.

Coffee is a perfect resource for making shoes, it contains micro air bubbles that allow you to make fresh footwear.

The ground coffee components are able to absorb moisture and therefore a quick drying, added all this results in an ecological, waterproof and sustainable footwear.
