Good morning Wonderful Steemians,

Industry was the basis of the economics of aquatic civilization. This is the basis on which the ancient Sri Lankans belonged. The main cultivation of the Sinhalese was paddy and agriculture was the main economy and the main source of food. It is important to define what agriculture is in this investigation of two ethnicity, with an agriculture-based economy. So agriculture is the science of farming and plantation.

Faith and Belief

Identifying what agriculture is, as well as beliefs, is a key concept in this investigation. So we need to identify what this concept is. Belief is an image of a person with his or her religion, culture and God in mind. It can be identified as a drawing. It can also be viewed as any concept that enriches its own emotions. However, this concept is an inheritance from the wisdom of mankind. It is also a cultural tool that has been transported to today's society through human primary communication. This communication provides mental well-being and stimulates the life of a successful and happy life.

Traditional Agriculture

This highlights the importance of agriculture. Sinhalese cultivate paddy in two seasons, Yala and Maha. Maha season is the main period of paddy cultivation. It begins in the lunar month of October and November. Yala season is the prime time for sowing paddy. It runs from April to September.

Preparing the land

The most important function of agriculture is to prepare the land for cultivation. In order to have a more productive crop, one has to choose a fertile land and make it suitable for cultivation. Afterwards, sow the seeds in a timely manner. Paddy farming is often done in one season with a period of four to five months. In between seasons, Sinhalese people cultivate chena cultivation for inter cropping.

restrictions on women

In the Sinhalese context, farming has become almost entirely male-centered. The reason is that the Sinhalese peasantry cultivate in accordance with the beliefs and rituals that have existed since ancient times. Therefore, a woman who is considered to be a baby is only involved in this process.

Harvest

The joy of having a good harvest is that the Sinhala peasant has sacrificed to God the Lord Buddha, the first part of the harvest, to reap the harvest. This is why the traditional Ritual Festival is celebrated with the traditional beliefs of the people. This is called the new rice festival, which symbolizes fertility.

New rice festival

The farmer celebrates the fertility feast that enriches his life with the rightful convictions. new rice festival is the name of an annual festival held in the Dalada Maligawa, Viharaya and other main temples in Kandy. The festival which is held after the harvesting and trampling is one of the main rituals of offering of rice to the Sacred Tooth Relic. It is evident that the feast of fertility is embodied in the beliefs of the rural people.

The new rice festival is not held by the Sri Lankan folk for its economic benefit. It is held only by preserving the traditions of the faith, presenting them to the future society, and carrying out the ancient customs. Sinhalese rituals are practiced to protect crops, but this is not the case. Thanks for reading.
