Akan proverbs: " A sluggard's farm never becomes big."

in culture •  7 years ago

AKAN PROVERB:
")kwadwofo) afuo ny33 k3se3 da"

TRANSLITERATION:
"A sluggard's farm never becomes big."

MEANING:
A lazy person never becomes rich.

MY COMMENTS:
Much less than a century ago, most Akan families depended on the food they grew on their own farm lands. Almost every family had a piece of land on which they farmed to take care of their families. Many times the men in the family were the lead farmers; their diligence was what determined how much of the land entrusted to them could be cultivated. The lazy man always had a very small piece of their land cultivated whiles the hardworking men could expand the farm to the point where it exceeds the intitial borders.

It is much like what we see today. Hard working people often see results. They make the mistakes and learn from them. They repetitively build a culture and it sets the tone for sustainable success.

It took the hard work of people like @Ned to create a large 'farm' as @steemit. There are many people with such great capacity but their sluggard attitudes rob them and the world of the potential harvest the farm of their abilities and minds could produce.
