Traditional Dances [Tari Pho]

in culture •  6 years ago

The word pho in the name of this dance comes from the word peubae, which if interpreted in the Acehnese language is like a title of respect.

This dance is generally performed by female dancers. In ancient times this dance was danced as a symbol if the person was sad or grieving. But after the entry of the teachings of Islam in Aceh, this dance later became a folk art only.
