Maitreya stone statue, Pagoda and Stone Lantern of Gwan Chock Sa Temple in Korea are similar to Trinity

In this posting, I’ d like show you the Pagoda and the stone lantern with stone statue of Maitreya.

The statue of Maitreya could be perfect only with the Pagoda and the stone lantern like Trinity.

At first let me show you the Pagoda. Pagoda was typical Koyreo style of 5 floor.
Some part was broken away and it seemed that one floor was lost.
There are only 4 floors now. But there is no even floors of Pagoda.
So I think this pagoda was 5 story pagoda.

The technique building Pagoda in Koryeo dynasty seemed to be worse than that of Shilla dynasty.
Why the technique of Shilla dynasty could not be continued to Koryeo dynasty. That was a mystery of history.

Even though the pagoda was not perfect, it made me friendly to the Pagoda.

In front of the Pagoda, there was a stone table carved with lotus patterns.
It was well made table.

The stone lantern was the one of the masterpiece in Koryeo dynasty's stone lantern. For more than thousand years, the shape of the lantern have been preserved with perfect.

This lantern was designated as a national treasure with the statue of Maitreya.
This temple has 2 national treasures.

The Pagoda, stone lantern and the stone statue of Maitreya was set up in a line.

The monk was praying in front of Pagoda, Stone lantern and Maitreya

On the hill of this temple I could look down the temple. It was calm and peaceful. I'd like to take the photo of panorama.

At first it was candle,
But now usually electric lights due to the danger of fire

Thank you

These architectural works of that period shows how expert and perfect their craftmenships were..thanks for sharig.

Thank you so much

It is really mysterious why the work done was so rough and not refined as the Shilla dynasty. But still I find them nice and what is great is that they are well preserved!

That's right.
They used the granite for making statue.
The granite was so hard, it could be preserved well

Beautiful! Are you going back?

Where ? To the temple?
Yes, when I have time to visit again

That's awesome! I love when there is history behind masterpieces like this.

Thank for bringing me to the outstanding historical sites @slowwalker. You describe them in detail. I am waiting for the next post.

Thank you so much

The stone sculpting is beautiful , its a lovely location - and you mention how techniques change from one part to another. but I believe stonemasons sometimes like to keep their secrets so some techniques may not be passed through every dynasty.

Yes, it must be, but it was sorry for techniques not to to be transfered

Cool, thanks for The post

Thank you

Your photography is just awesome and I have really fallen in love with your photography skills. Which camera do you use for it?

Cannon the cheapest

May I know the model no.?

@slowwalker
The work done by the ancient peoples fascinates us today.
It had to all be done by hand. And it remains unto this day.
Your information about the structures helps us to understand what
we are looking at.
That is what you do best. Many Steemians come to your blog to see
and read what you have posted for us.
Thank you.

amazing post!! Hey did you know the tallest and oldest still standing pagoda is in Andong? It doesn't attract alot of visitors but last year I saw it and it was huge. I recommend checking it out. It's called 안동신세동칠층탑.

Thank you for an interesting story and fotos about your country
