Past and Present

in culture •  7 years ago

Present becomes past.
Present is resisting to become past.
But as time flows, past is surrounded by present like below.

Past is resisting to be disappeared.
But it’s a matter of time.

Sometimes I could find old buildings in the center of Seoul. The old buildings are no more harmonious with neighborhood.

This unbalance is the symbol of our past
Past preserves memories.
The memories of Past is not so pleasant for me, because those memories reminded me of the harsh difficulties of my parents’ generation.
Those memories were preserved in the old houses and buildings.

I don’t like forget the harsh time that my parents walked through.

My kids don't want to hear me of the difficult time that I had experienced.

Disappearing of old buildings seems to me that we lost my memory on the my parent’s generation.

So I am taking the photos when I come across old and ruined households.

Wow the difference between both buildings is really big and you can see how we are growing right now and how the countries are remodeling their cities to improve themself and receive more visitors

Yes, it's crazy isn't it?

Recently I had a client who specializes in cleaning buildings.

They take old buildings like these and make them look like new.

What an improvement!

But very few people bother.

So you get these old buildings looking very run down.

A shame.

The past is important.

It is no longer here, so it does not need to be painful.

And some old buildings are very nice.

In a few days I will post photos of some wonderful old architecture to the @traveladdict blog ... but buildings that look GOOD even if they are a little worn :)

These feelings are familiar to me! We must keep these memories to appreciate what we have. Difficulties develop appreciation! Thank you @slowwalker for your thoughts!

Un excelente aporte una ciudad moderna siempre tendrá barrios rurales aunque sea por cultura, son antigüedades a conservar.

Very nice pictures my friend

Very nice photos to show the urbanization of the world. I love them! thank you for posting this

Life has to go on and I think its time to move on

So interesting to see! Great shots.

Time will not wait for us, do what is best to do, be a person who can adapt to the development of the times
Nice post @slowwalker

Really insightful

I also don't like all the old buildings are disappearing. They have a beauty. @slowwalker

That's right

The present sometimes is a sad reminder of the past., when it completely erodes its memories

Right

So true....children are shocked today to hear of life even 40 years ago. Imagine growing up with no PC or cellphone or internet. Actually playing in dirt and being outside...kids in the US think this is so "not cool".....lol. I love it though. You learn a lot about yourself and social skills and life. I know my parents would tell me there stories to and I would "eye roll"....how funny. Such is life. Thanks for sharing.

I am so glad that we are sharing common feelings.
Thank you for your comment

It's so hard to go through bad moments, but despite of all the difficult times, there will always be a transition to very good opportunities and experiences. Great work!

Thank you

Definitely the past many times hurts, but I think that even if it is past it should always be pun little present, since we are who we are and we know what we know.
I invite you to go through my blog may be to your liking, and you can really support me that I would appreciate it

i like your post my friend

The harsh past makes us stronger indeed

Inspiring

Great post man !

You really appreciate the contrast between the present and the past in each photo

Awesome pictures. That message was actually quite deep :P Awesome though! It's great to see you are being so consistent! Keep at it :)

I am very happy to read your post. Reading your post is like I've read books dozens of sheets of wisdom. I think the language you are presenting is like poetry literature that we will read over and over again. Short but full of meaning. Let me resteem your post. Thank you

Thank you for your compliment.
But I know well my english is broken

Nice post

Wow first come first serve.. the post is really amazing

I understand you! My city is changing in the eyes, loses its unique atmosphere. New and big houses are appearing, and I have mixed feelings, because development is always good, but at the same time something important is lost, the soul of the city

building plot's price in such areas should be very high so why the owner of such old house doesn't sell his property for a lot of money and move to another place?

@slowwalker I think that the retention of the past is crucial for the progress for the future. For those that build the shiny new buildings, if the plan doesn't have a 15- to 30-year outlook, all of the beautiful creations will soon look like the old buildings you have depicted.

Such a good lesson in life.

I like the Photos

nice post !

Great contrast between old and new indeed!
Beautiful!
Cheers
@progressivechef

Its great post! @slowwalker, but did you notice that in spite of new buildings the famous or popular shop/chicken center are still in old place.

This view becomes very common in every big city. There is a sad feeling everytime we see such old buildings. O well, c'est la vie.

your writing is so beautiful , yeah , sometime s the photos we take really can help us remember the past ! thanks your post , it can also make me remeber my parents'time . we are better than the time they live in , thanks !

Old is Gold, we should keep some of old building so that our next generations can appreciate and learn the history

Very reflective post, you can see the same in my hometown.. old buildings which me and my parents have memories of, but is now only shadows of the past. Upvoted.

change is beaautiful no matter what it cost...

If that is life, the clock of life.

beautiful city
It must have been very enjoyable staying there

Thanks for sharing these photos.
Actually, this condition is apparent in my city as well.
It's constantly evolving.
But as much as possible, we are trying to protect and preserve some places which played a vital role in our history. :)

Hey man! I hope you're not mad at me for asking you whether you're in North Korea or South Korea! I'm a travel freak and love to see photos from places I've never been to so I will be following you ;)

Great post @slowwalker.

Thank you for sharing this post. Old building are witness of the pass. Without them there is no present and future. Old building there a lot of story, success and even sadness to tell :)

I'm intrigued by the contrast between ancient and new buildings in the cities. It reminds me the importance of our history, the past perfectly represented in our daily life. In my small city there isn't a great contrast, because also the new houses are similar to the ancient and this is a way to say "thanks" to our past, I think ^_^

Nice posts thank you for sharing @slowwalker

awesome post again

Awesome post my friend!!
I like the title of this post and also these pictures.

Thank you for sharing with us @slowwalker !!!

Keep steem on..

Tomorow the today places will be no more harmonious any more .... ok maybe not tomorow but soon :)

Really shows the transience of life.
Man tries to dictate and control nature but in the end time and nature are victors as everything begins to degrade.
Great Photographs @slowwalker

Great post! The memories of the past will make you stronger in the future

Very nice post with reminder of days past, good and bad memories, and the bright future that is ours to grow into. It is amazing that you say your children aren't interested in the stories of the past. We are miles and cultures apart but we do have that in common. My children aren't interested in hearing about my struggles growing up in less affluent times either.

Great insight into your thinking, and a warning to preserve the past into the now.

It's not just the buildings that are changing. It's everything. We're living in a very crazy era! Everything is changing at the speed of light -_-

Thanks for sharing!

my country is need to develop ..... still poor :(

nice stuff you collected i liked. past and present. really everything is changed but past should know youngsters.

I wonder how long it will be before some business comes in and buys that old building.

We need to preserve the old and keep them for memories really good capture bro!

Each building and each place have their own stories, which recorded our lifes and memories.
Enjoy the architect as I do :) @nicolemoker

nice post and content too..... and the past is the bitter truth and we can't forget it......even if we want to do so.
upvoted you.

3rd picture shows it the best how everything moved on just the building remained the same. Brand new car in front of it, plenty of surveillance cameras around it, new skyscrapers with full glass facade . But the old building is still here observing the life changing all around it.

Very nice find!

I feel you man! Upvoted & Resteemed ;)

You always providing us with something good man thanks for sharing

I don’t like forget the harsh time that my parents walked through.

I can resonate a lot with that statement :)

Nice! Ipkiss approves! Upvoted it and resteemed :)

Good post!
It made me think about life!
Thank you!

Keep memories about past but don't focus too much attention on them.
We live today anyways heh :d

Beautiful post. The photos emphasizes the contrast between the present and the past superbly. Thank you!

We have the power to modify the future by action in present :p

I think it's very kind and sweet of you to not want to forget the harsh time that your parents have walked through. You got my vote :)

Such great shots I find it cool finding the older buildings in a city eithe Ron their own and capturing there endearing character or contrasting with the new buildings

i understand what you mean, we establish our memories over places, they hold an affection for sure. you just created legacy, good for you. you will always have the memories that way, forever stored in a blockchain! :)

Cities need to preserve those old building, it's a part of history that should not be torn down

Nice Pictures :)

The difference is very great, people are trying to improve the look of the building! it's good !

Time change everything.

좋은 글 감사합니다.

In my country, indonesia. Such gaps can be found more easily. But finding a caring person like you, is difficult.

The future beckons

Very-very inspiring, every city and every person has the time and stories with backgrounds. Hard times are extremely beautiful to be remembered, especially the hard times we've passed with a variety of struggles that we do to get good results ...

It's amazing the sites you see in Asian cities. I wished I'd taken more photos when I was travelling like these. They're in the blockchain now forever as a reminder.
Great post.

Photography can only represent the present. Once photographed, the subject becomes part of the past.😁😁😁

Great post :)

That's life my friend. Old will always get replaced by new, whether it's individuals or buildings. It's good you're taking snaps of the great change. Would be a great help to remember the whole picture of change in future. @slowwalker

Hey @slowwalker, the present becomes past and past was once present... The time goes on! And so do we. The only thing that is constantly constant is the change itself.. I do understand that you haven't had really pleasing memories associated with the old buildings as they remind you of the hardship your parents saw, but in my opinion we shouldn't forget our past, even if it wasn't too lavish and glittery... The humble background keeps us grounded and keeps pushing us to progress in life. But that's just me!!
Peace

It is looked different...new building growing behind old building..I like to see old culture of Japan 👍🏼
