Road to the Tae Go Sa Temple 1

in culture •  7 years ago

To get to the Tae Go Sa temple was not easy.
Tae Go Sa Temple was located deep in the mountain. The road to the temple was made with trees, but it was slippery due to the rain.

Climbing for a while, I saw a big rock behind the trees.

As I turned around the rock, I could see the red engraved letters on the rock. It means ‘stone gate’ literally. It was written nearly four hundred years ago.

Only one person could barely pass through the stone gate.

When I passed through the stone gate, there was a pile of rocks. People may have built up little stones to make their wishes come true. I put a stone on there.

Turning around the pile of rocks, I saw the entrance of the temple.

The rain-wet road seemed to show me how difficult the seeker's path was.

Almost at the top of the mountain, Tae Go Sa was located.

The scene in the mist was fantastic.

It was mysterious that there was this temple under the summit of Daedunsan.

I could see the summit of the mountain from the temple.

I looked down the mountains from the temple. All the mountains seemed to greet to the temple. They said that that’s the reason why they had built the temple at first.

Strangely enough even though I was tired of climbing, my mind was in peace and I felt comfortable. (continued)

So beautiful. That seems quit the hike @slowwalker

Although the road upside is sometimes difficult, but the reward that awaits on the top always surpasses all the inconvenience.

yes that's right

All the mountains seemed to greet to the temple. They said that that’s the reason why they had built the temple at first.

This really stuck with me.
It seems like the perfect spot to explore, and meditate up there in the temple, surrounded by mountains. I'd love to visit.
I'm also fascinated by the stone gate and the carved letters - they look so perfect although they are 400 years old!

Really it was fantastic.
The schollar who wrote that letters was one of the most famous in Korea.

Pretty cool!

beautiful would love to take a walk there

Nice shot buddy, seems to have a hard effort to get to Tae Go Sa Temple. very beautiful because along the way we always appreciate the beauty of nature, and also the caves here. If I may know how long we pass this ladder in order to get to Tae Go Sa Temple @slowwalker??
your post is very good, I hope one day I can get to a beautiful place like this. Thanks for the posting you today @slowwalker.

It takes 2 hours from bottom to the temple

Are you sure ??
I'm sure it must have been a very tiring journey, but I am also sure sense of tired you have lost due to this view that as good as @slowwalker

a temple in a cliff with a steep path and a narrow gate that only admits one...very profound, @slowwalker. You climbed up a slippery path in the rain to see the misty vista.

Heraclitus said, "the way up and the way down are the same" He goes on to say, "In us the living and the dead, wakefulness and sleep, youth and old age, are one and the same: for the ones are changed into the others, and reciprocally."

So the temple is a physical embodiment of a parable of human life. Your pebble placed among the wishes of others is a yearning for happiness, and yet it is simple. We need only yield to the miracle of being alive and paying attention to the life around us.

You celebrate the wonders of life everyday in your posts, @slowwalker.

Thank you for your comment.
You comment make me think more on my journey

I'm glad, @slowwalker

Amazing!

Wow, that seems like such a beautiful trail to follow to get to the temple!

Thank you for sharing. When I read the post it reminds me how young a country the US really is. You can visit castle in Europe that took longer to build than the US is old. I see your photos and think what life was like and here we are passing through a moment in time. This isn't the first empire to fall...not even the first time a currency falls -- your photos remind me of history that is hidden.

You read more and better than my posting, lol.
Thank you

Following that long uphill walk your reward was obviously in the summit but also it seems on the lovely journey. My grandfather was once a champion walker and we follow in his footsteps. Keep walking!

beautiful temple

What a journey! You embodied the archetypal walk-up-the-mountain-to-the-temple trip!

After ascending, I always feel comfortable. It's like that primal rush of increasing the view distance ignites in us some kind of wonder and peace. Even ascending tall buildings does this to me.

we felt same thing lol

Beautiful shots man! Amazing places you travel to :]

Love the spirit. Resteeming...

it's beautiful

I think you can totally sell the first two shots! :)

I fell like rain made the scenery from the summit more beautiful ^^

Such beautiful photos! Hope you enjoyed being there as much as we enjoyed your post!!

Very nice bro. I love the second photo. It looks stunning!!

Is it China? Amazing!

Korea
thank you

How many steps did you took? The rock paths sure are slippery when it rains. I love the picturesque scenery especially the shots of the mountains with the temple. Simply magnificent. Can't wait for the next part. :)

I had walked several hours to get there

Nice shoot thanks for sharing @slowwalker

Very nice reportage and good shots!

Beautiful photos!

How could they build the temple at the top of the mountain? It must have been very difficult to carry all the rocks and trees, let alone building it.

That's what I thought.

Beautiful place

Although it may prove difficult and a bit dangerous to travel to Tae Go Sa but the scenery, landscape and nature is absolutely breathtaking and well worth the struggle.
Amazing piece of artifacts and relics along the way to admire as you approach the ancient temple.
Great Shots from the mountain @slowwalker
Really puts in to perspective the majesty of the temple

Thank you

Beautiful natural scenery! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful experience, I hope I can live it one day

great bro very nice

Some of that path looks like a bit of an obstacle course. Perhaps that was done intentionally, to really make people work for and appreciate the peace when they reach the top.
Upvoted.

It was natural, not intentionally.
Interesting ?

Take my hand and lead me through the forest on those wet and slippery stairs, we need to go to the temple to get something we can find only there. What is it? It's not the view down the montains, it's the feeling of peace and feedom.

exactly

Interesting post...thanks

Education is the cheap defense of nations.

As usual your posts are fantastic ☺️

Wonderful scenery with the beautiful mountains!

I followed you from the earlier steps till almost at the top of the mountain....at Tae Go Sa Temple. The road to the temple is surrounded with natural beauty. I like to see mist over the mountains, too. Yes, it's really fantastic, as you said.

The temple is worth for visiting indeed. I can imagine your feeling and agree with your statement, "strangely enough even though I was tired of climbing, my mind was in peace and I felt comfortable".

Thank you for your comment

With my pleasure! ;)

Woah nice trail to go to. I could only imagine how fresh the air is in the area. Great shots!

Of course, really clean and sweet air

If you didn't tell i probably would never find this letter on the wall.
Oh my... it was written around four hundred years ago.

Man i love your photos specially with fog in the jungle its even looking at it is meditation

Thank you

Beautiful looking place. Is it really not that crowded?

Wow..really beautiful nature.
Feeling one with nature is something I have been missing in LA.
Your pictures remind me that we sometimes just need to stop, put down our technology and gimmicks in order to enjoy and live the moment!

Thank you for sharing calming and therapeutic pictures 😊!!

That looks like quite an amazing hike. Great photography, too! That's one hike I'd like to try someday. Where is this temple?

What an extraordinarily beautiful place! The path itself is put together with such grace too, and that rock...amazing. I love the photos and the story, thanks for a view into such rich place.

Great pictures and an even better story !! looks amazing there, hopefully you're enjoying it !! Would love to go there sometime:) you got my follow and upvote !

Would love to go there..Awesome shots and fabulous post!

Fantastic pictures! Mountains .... a path .. it all fascinates and beckons. That's great. Thank you.

Beautiful place ti visit. What a beautiful views. I enjoy watching your photos. Stay steeming my friend.

I really believe you that it was not easy to go there, but it looks amazing. The fact that it was not too much touched by the hands of people is the one thing that I like about this way. I hope it will remain always like this because it is a pity to change something in the naturalness of this road.

wow, beautiful views

Beautiful environment very green and foggy nice to breath fresh air there.

follow for follow @dkinx

What a lovely place, I bet you can see the stars very clearly at night at that location. I imagine they do not let people hang around very late at night though.

I Watch K-dramas and looking at those pictures...how realistically beautiful it is and amazing I can not describe in words! This is coming from an Indian who haven't been to Korea yet but definitely one day!

Congratulations @slowwalker!
