The Appearance of Things Look Different by its Viewing Angle.

in culture •  7 years ago  (edited)

I went up to the highest place in Bukchon village to look down the roof of Bukchon village.
Suddenly I wondered how the roofs would be seen when I look at them from higher place.
History was laid down on the roofs of the traditional house.

The shape of things changes depending on the viewing angle. The roofs of Bukchon village viewed from above was different from the one seen from below. When I look up from below, especially the Cheoma(eaves) made me think the traditional house as authoritative.

But as soon as the viewing angle changed from higher to lower, the roofs came to me with much more friendly.

Overlapping view of the traditional houses was much more impressive. It has the beauty made by the duplication of the pattern

When I lift up my eyes, the latest buildings of Seoul came to my eyes from far away. It told me the importance of harmony by old and new.
The beauty comes from the combination.

It was much better than just having a new building.
Everything should be harmonized. There is no exception.

Everything looks same in the world. The shape of things changes depending on the viewing angle.

To be precise, the appearance of things does not change. Only the angle of the eyes is changing.
The mind changes everything.

Did you enjoy the roofs ?

I have experienced this fact myself. At the Palace of Nations in Geneva Switzerland a conference room is having the ceiling painted in different colors and depending of the angle from which you look at it, you see mainly one color. The purpose of this is to demonstrate that different people from different regions of the planet can see the same thing in different ways and we should not judge the way people perceive it. Anyway, great article !!

Nice post
Thank you

May the sky be clear above you,
Let life be kind in light,
Live, surrounded by friends,
And all of you good health and warmth!

Great shots!
I love Korean architecture, your traditional buildings looks so different than our traditional buildings in Denmark :)

😁

I love those roof architectures. They remind me of Kung Fu movies where the actors chase each others right on top of them :-)

Hahaha

Wuuhaaa! And then it´s just a Snickers-hungry Mr Bean. "You are not you when you are hungry!"

I wonder how long did you ascend there. When you look at roofs closer it really looks peculiar and eye catching. Their style attracts and makes me want to travel to Korea and dive into their culture.

You are right.
You can enjoy the culture in korea

those roofs are art itself. I wonder how much labor they used to put those up. A heritage site. Nice one!

It is really difficult to built.
There was no blue print to build the traditionl house.

the carpenters who built those are really awesome engineers, they have great minds.

Beautiful city, love the architecture. Where I am it's just boring houses with little design gone into the aesthetics.

Those old wooden houses found throughout Korea and Japan are certainly built to last

Beautiful, i love the views :) it's different, awesome !

architecture and harmony

Sincerely yes depends on the angle you will have a view or another, and also it depends of the type of person because there are a lot of people that see all with the same angle good post

You korean?

very different, thanks for sharing :)

These small and beautiful houses look like a toy on the background of large multi-storey buildings))

Lol

I think the sis a wonderful analogy of how to look at the world. If you look for the positive things in the world, you will find them. If you focus on the negative that is all you will see.

I have a couple of new posts that may interest you.

Thank you so much

Excellent photos of the roofs. I like your photos and I am loving Korea.

The name of your article apply to all things in life!

I've always liked chinese style roottops!

New buildings looks modern and nice but nothing can compete with old architecture, the culture that is left from the old buildings and houses cannot be replaced.

I'm loving the quality of your pictures in your posts! I enjoyed the roofs :)

I love these friendly roofs! So different in my country

very beautiful. There should be an architecture section on steemit!

Life is always about perspective:) Thanks for posting @slowwalker!

Wonderful, never thought some things would change drastically in a different angle. By the way I would highly appreciate if you could take time to visit my Introduction I would like to know your thoughts. :)

Very interesting post. I love the old with the new and how they work well together.

a beautiful post, @slowwalker. As I mentioned before, you are a great observer of things.

You pay attention to life when all the rest of the world seems asleep to its beauties and truths.

These photographs are lovely - all the over-lapping and intersecting patterns of roofs. Quite fascinating.

Your photo essays remind me of a Japanese writer, Sei Shōnagon - Do you know her? She's famous for keeping a journal of what she observed. This post of yours would fit under the heading, “Things That Make the Heart Grow Fonder.”

A very lovely post, my friend.

When I see these roofs I just think about kung fu movies, with the characters fighting each other on the roof jumping from one building to the next.LOL Thanks for sharing some great photo's.

you really pay attention to the detail and shape of things. keen eye with a good choice of words. Its really easy on the eyes!

That are really cool roofs.
I feel like a time travler with your postings.
Upvoted and pinned on my board :-)

thanks for sharing my friend @slowwalker

I did enjoy the roofs @slowwalker. It's amazing that all those buildings are still standing today. They have so much heritage value, it's incredible to think the builders of those times knew so much about good construction! Thanks for sharing this post, and I don't know why I haven't followed you sooner - I thought I did so sorry about that, I've been commenting on your posts for a while now and figured I had already followed! Keep up the great content and I hope you enjoy some of my photography :) Thanks for all the upvotes so far!

I never imagined a post about roofs would be interesting. I was wrong. These are fantastic. I myself live in a highrise and can look down on roofs as far as the eye can see.

The roofs i can see are an eyesore compared to the photos you've taken. Lots of metal patch work panels, rust, squares/rectangles, nothing inspired.

Your photos are great, i'd much prefer to be looking across that view than what i am.

It's incredible! Very beautiful)

Hello! My name is Dima! My mother read a lot of your stories! Now I can read it myself! I like how you write! I will follow you!

I apologize in advance for my English. Your photos impressed me! I really liked them! The photos are unusual, at first glance simple and at the same time something attractive ... I will be interested to see more photos! I wish you success!

loved you pics you have made a great Effort :)

Hello! Well of course that everything has at least 2 points of view. The points of view differ from the person.
So if something is right for you, it might be wrong for me. We have to give our best to observe the problems of all its aspects.
Cheers! Regards @duhov!

nice shots ! but maybe the location could be more better than that ! keep your wondrfull job :)

I wonder how birds, snakes, or tigers look at us from their height. I wonder how they feel about us walk past them, other than hunger lol
