Happy Chinese New Year

The Philippines will be celebrating Chinese New Year on February 16th and decorations are set this early for the festive event. This one in particular represents one of the more popular decors during this time - the money tree. And yes, the red envelopes are meant to be filled with money.

Hanging red decors also provide the festive mood and here they are accompanied by large fans.

The Filipino-Chinese ties have been well entrenched in the Philippine society since the 9th century and Chinese businessmen have been crucial catalysts of the economy to date and most of them are even listed in Forbes Asia who’s who.

To all our Chinese Steemit friends, I hope you all have a great celebration, Kung Hei Fat Choi!
