Hi steemians ....how are you?
Today I want to tell you a little bit about the wedding traditions in aceh. honestly, Iam not pure from the Acehnese ... even though my father is a pure Acehnese but my mother is from the Javanese. But the difference is not a problem between both..
Screenshot Image* *** There are some traditions that aceh men do if they want to marry a woman in aceh, first is **Propose Steps (Ba Ranup).** Ba ranup or carrying betle is a propose made by a man to a woman, for this reason the male family will send someone who is considered wise in speaking (called a seulangke) to manage of this propose.
Screenshot Image* *** **Engagement Stage (Ba Tanda)** If the propose is accepted, the family of the man will come back to do Peukong Haba. Peukong haba is talk about when the wedding day will take place, including determining how much dowry received (called jeulamee) that requested and how many guests will be invited. Usually at this event at the same time an engagement ceremony is held with a sign, one of which is the engagement ring as a sign that the woman has been proposed.
Screenshot Image* *** **Boh Gaca (wearing henna)** is using before the wedding is held. this is a ceremony of using of henna on the fingers and toes of the bride like a bride in india, then the preparation of ***ijab kabul.*** ijab kabul is the spelling from the father, or the trusteeship of the bride to marry her daughter to the prospective bridegroom. The bride's parents release her daughter to marry a man, and the groom accepts the bride to marry. most permits are carried out in large mosques in each region. The ijab Kabul meeting was attended by marriage trustee marry, leaders, witnesses and all of family part.
Screenshot Image* *** **Pesta Pelaminan (Pelaminan Party)** Pelaminan party is held after the wedding ceremony is held between the groom and the bride, both on the same day and on other days, this event is usually called the tueng linto baro event. This wedding party aims to celebrate happiness as well as to introduce the bride to all relatives.
Screenshot Image* *** **Tueng Lintoe Baroe** (tueng-accept, linto-male, baroe-new) or other words accept the groom, the intention is to accept the bridegroom by the woman, the acceptance by customary law or in the Aceh tradition. The groom comes to the party and the group (family & relatives). The entourage was served a special dish called idang bu bisan (idang-Dish, bu-nasi bisan-in-law). After finishing eating, the linto baro entourage asked for permission to go home, while the groom stayed to be matched to be secured until the event was over.
Screenshot Image* *** **Mahar (Jeulamee)** In Acehnese customs, known as dowry is the property given by the groom to the bride at the time of marriage. This property can be in the form of gold and money. Mahar in each aceh are different according to agreement, usually numbering from a dozen to tens of grams of gold and conversely there are also dowries that are proposed under a dozen but using extra money called *"peng angoh"* (peng-money, angoh-charred), this is done to help parties women to organize parties and buy room contents, such as beds, cabinets and dressers. Mahar is usually set by the woman and usually the siblings have a dowry that continues to rise or at least the same. But all things about this dowry can change according to the agreement of both party between man and woman

Screenshot Image* *** **Idang & Peuneuwoe** are dishes given from the bride to the other party. Usually during Intimate Linto baro (escort the groom), the group brings Idang to the bride in the form of clothes, necessities and daily equipment for the future wife. and when intimate baro (escort the bride), the entourage will bring back the talam (like a large plate) which is filled with typical Acehnese food such as sponge cake, boi cake, karah cake, wajek, and so on, as much as a given plate or less with odd numbers. Customs carrying good things or cakes in Acehnese customs are very well known.
