Why is it not nice?
It's an old tradition they have.
It would be rude to disrespect their tradition, wouldn't it?
It's only an island, but I think it's really important to them.

Sounds strange to me as well. Why women are not allowed to go there! In my belief, If its a religious place then it should be permissible for both male and female.
