CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN INDONESIA

Indonesia Is an archipelago country number up to thousands of islands consisting of various tribes scattered throughout the island, with geographical location of Indonesia which consists of coastal and mountainous. With the many tribes gave birth to a variety of cultures passed down from generation to generation and still prevails to modern times today.

Cultural diversity in the country of Indonesia is a wealth that is owned and needs to be preserved, through our culture can invite tourists both local and foreign tourists to visit Indonesia, and of course be one source of foreign exchange in the country.

Because Indonesia has many ethnic groups that gave birth to cultural diversity, including different customs, religions, arts and languages. To maintain the sense of unity and unity in Indonesia create a slogan to maintain a sense of nationalism with the motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" which means although different but still one too.

This was also triggered in the Youth Pledge declared on 28 October 1928, the contents of the youth oath there are 3 important things, namely:

  • We are the son and daughter of one nation Indonesia, nation of Indonesia
  • We are the son and daughter of one Indonesian language , language indonesia
  • We are the son and daughter of one indonesia country, the country of indonesia

Culture is the work of human creativity that contains value, both in terms of art, teaching and reflecting the identity of an area. From regional culture will be born national culture. The selection of regional culture to become a national culture must have several sanctions, which include;
Firstly, it must provide an identity to the state's supporters of that culture. That is, elements of regional culture that has and provide identity and characteristic that can be lifted into elements of national culture.
Secondly, it should give a sense of pride to the culture's supporting citizens. This means that the element of regional culture can cause a sense of pride not only for the tribe of origin, but the people of Indonesia.
Third, must be of high quality. This means that the elements of high-quality regional culture can enrich the knowledge, degrees, and humanitarian values ​​of the people of Indonesia.

Some of the regional culture that is turned into a national culture

Traditional dance

Dance is a body movement that raises beauty both for himself and for others. Even each region has a variety of dances that are usually in use during the customary ceremony on the area. Indonesia has various dances that are recognized as national culture such as saman dance from aceh, pendet dance from Bali, jaipong dance from java and reog dance from ponorogo.

Indonesia has many custom homes with the characteristic of each region, every construction of custom house has its own philosophical meaning, every establishment of custom house must be through sacred ceremony according to society. An example of a custom house is a house

Folk songs

The song of the region is a typical singing area that uses the local language. Area bias songs themed stories that occur in the area, or contain a typical song that reflects the characteristics of the region. Example of song area apuse song from papua and ampar ampar pisang song from south kalimantan.

Traditional musical instruments

Traditional musical instruments are played to accompany regional song songs, with a variety of distinctive musical instruments both in terms of bunt or sound. Examples of musical instruments that become national culture is angklung from western Java, there is also a gamelan that comes from Java.

Traditional weapon

Differences in different areas also, each of the traditional weapons can be used as a sharp weapon, but in general traditional weapons are only used as a complement in customary ceremony, traditional weapons that become national culture such as kris from Java, Rencong from aceh and Badik from bugis.

Traditional clothes

Traditional clothing is a typical outfit of an area, each tribe or region has its own clothing area. Traditional clothing Indonesia is a batik shirt that is now widely used throughout the world community. Another custom clothing that is known is the kebaya that comes from Java.
