A visit to the Annah Rais Longhouse

in culturevulture •  7 years ago

I've never been to visit Longhouse in Sarawak but last year In June 2017, I finally managed to visit this Bidayuh Longhouse which is just an hour drive from Kuching city. This is one of the most popular longhouse that a majority of travellers would visit and is sold by local travel agents. Annah Rais Longhouse is a Bidayuh settlement in south of Kuching, Sarawak The land of Hornbill. A homestay at the foothill of Borneo Highlands near the mountains marking the border to Kalimantan. What you can experience when visiting this place is the Cultural dance performance. Other than the authentic longhouse experience, it is also famous for the hot springs nearby, soaking in the hot spring, visit the stunning waterfall, jungle trekking, enjoy the nature and also you can do Bamboo rafting through the beautiful tropical rainforest along the knee-level shallow stream which is so much fun and adventurous.

Interior of Annah Rais Longhouse, Everyday life at Annah Rais Longhouse some people claim that Annah Rais is on a more commercial side, due to the located close to Kuching city, hence the dwellers here are more modern and up to date. For more traditional dwellers one can choose to visit other longhouses in the remote areas.
