Curate for Cause, not Rewards

The wise benefit from a second opinion. I said the wise benefit from a second opinion.

Amennn my brother amennnnnn.

But for whatever reason some of us on Steemit think the complete opposite.

The thought is "how can I maximize rewards with the least amount of effort."

Instead of "my second opinion on this piece of content could really help and/or inspire this person."

So naturally they progress to curation which pays rewards based off of clicking a button. Or even less work and have an automated system do the clicking for you.

Wow you finally figured it out.

You have been waiting your whole lives for this.

A real, quick fast scheme.

"Holy shit guys we finally did it."

"We can be lazy, do little to no work, make money, and get away with it."

"Holy shit we have done it."

But with any quick, fast scheme it only lasts for so long.

And then the Universe responds.

Responds with justice.

Responds with hope.

Responds with warriors.

That's how the universe works.

It's lets bad shit fester for a little, giving the ones doing it a chance to reconcile. But when it gets too much and the chances run out

The universe responds.

We all know this. Just look at the thousands, if not millions of case studies over the thousands of years humans have been alive.

It is very easy to connect the dots. But most don't want to or don't care. They are stuck in their mazes and the only way they can make that maze better is by getting nicer stuff to put in that maze.

But nicer stuff doesn't buy you happiness, not purpose.

That's why we should:

Curate for cause, not rewards.

This Steemit community is a bright light in a dark world so we need to make sure this light keeps shining so that all us Steemians can share our love, knowledge, experience, and inspiration with one another.

Curation rewards are 25% of the post payout.

25.jpg

25%.

This was to gamify the element of searching, consuming, and sharing content. Because it is hard to do. Hence the incentives and rewards to get us humans to do it.

So curation is an incentive to help Steemians get feedback, recognition, and rewards for the original content they create.

Not a quick, fast scheme.

If you are about earning and logic, then why are you even bothering with the 25%.

Didn't you learn in grade school that 75 is greater than 25?

Like the number 75 is greater than the number 25.

So 75% rewards for creating content is greater than the 25% rewards you get from curation.

pie-chart.jpg

So if you were about earning and logic then you would be creating content because:

75% > 25%

So why do they do it?

Because they can't create content. And they know this.

Hmm looks like how the post payouts are structured on Steemit :)

Creating original content that provides value, is interesting, and makes people want to stay tune is hard. And requires sacrifice, time, resources, and life experiences to do.

And most know can't do one or a few of these elements.

And they know this.

And that is why they curate for rewards, not cause.

So if you are a Steemian like me who cares.

Cares about people.

Cares about this community.

Cares about this world.

Then please:

Curate for Cause, not Rewards.

Nice article man, it is well thought out. "Be mindful of your self-talk. It's a conversation with the universe", - this has been the theme of the week for me. I've been thinking about this a lot lately and as the universe was listening, it has confirmed my suspicions. I even did a post 2 days ago relating to the Law of Attraction, so thank you man for being the deliverer of great news.

Holy smokes yep you already know my brother :)

Glad to do my part for us like-minded souls.

Thank you!

:)

There should be a way to connect curation with commenting. Well thought out comments that add to the conversation should have more value than the person who just clicks a button at the right time.

But so long as there is an easy way to get curation rewards, people will take the easy way out. Unfortunately, even if we changed the rules, there is always a way to game the system, and people will work 100x harder to game the system than to actually be a part of a great system.

Human nature.

Keep being one of the rock stars @chiefmappster!

You are so freakin on point its epic. They will always try to game the system. that's what made me realize it's a mindset more than anything. And I think you are so right, thoughtful comments should get something, something like come one haha.

So we will see how human nature unfolds here :)

Thank you for your positivity energy, really needed it at this moment.

And thank you for caring.

For sure! People will try to get away with anything!

But Steem is also still changing. We hear whispers of big announcements coming. We'll see if those announcements help make things a little less "gameable".

Keep fighting the good fight man! It's a big mountain, but we can get to the top with teamwork!

Amen my brother amen.

Teamwork makes the dream work after all :)

Through time we only come to see that time and space are non existant, for we are all mere satellites of a unviversal consiousness. Great post brother, we all inspire each other.

Holy smokes I love that exactly. That's what I do with my writing at least, just flow with whatever conscious thoughts the Universe throws in my head :)

Thank you for caring my brother.

Namaste

It's amazing how you drive the point on in simplicity. I also think curating is show of appreciation; when we discover good content, the creator should get a pat on the back. You simply are spot-on. Thanks for the awesome hints.

Wow thank you so much That is one of the goals of my writing I think :)

And exactly I like how you said that "pat on the back" maybe there is some way that could become a feature on here. Like give that author " a pat of the back" and they get some type of reward.

Thank you for caring.

Namaste

I like this idea you raised @chiefmappster

I would also like to thank you ffor your support for me as well. God Bless you.

Wow thank you so much for this, made me smile :)

God bless you too and everyone.

Namaste

Very well said brother. But sadly the content creators won't go far without the curators backing them up. It's been really hard for me to find people to back up my writings, took me three months to get where I am right now, yet im quite happy for the support everyone has given me!

Ay exactly its a synergy, balance almost to both parties.

But without content, they have nothing to curate :)

Thanks for caring.

Namaste

I think it's important to do a bit of both. We all need to read and write on steemit for it to be a good economy of ideas.

Amen I like this do both. A balance you could say :)

Thank you for your time and attention, means a lot to me.
