Steemit Open Mic Week 93: The Flood (original song)

We start off today's Author Showcase with another heavier bit of music. I personally prefer genres like hard rock, and heavy metal. It is great to see this type of music being represented here on the Steem Blockchain. Reading through Michael's bio and seeing who his musical influences are it is no surprise why I like him. While many artists will list Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Ritchie Blackmore as influences, I love to see someone listing the likes of Savatage and Yngwie Malmsteen among those who shaped who they have become as an artist.

Shared from Michael's bio:

Trying to pigeonhole the German artist Michael Dietrich into the singer-songwriter genre wouldn’t do him any justice. Obviously his voice and his guitar build the fundament for his music – according to the slogan “a good song always works on an acoustic guitar”. But you can easily discover his love for great rock bands like Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple, as well as epic metal bands like Savatage, Ayreon and Blind Guardian in his works. Besides his charismatic voice, his songs are characterized by his versatile guitar playing: on the one hand influenced by artists like Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen and Richie Sambora and on the other hand shaped by his classical guitar education. This makes Michael a much sought-after live and session guitarist. He recently recorded two musicals and played sold-out shows in Germany. Additionally, Michael is the front man of the rock band “Dead Man’s Boogie” and made it to the renowned Classic Rock magazine. His new CD “Across Open Seas” received great reviews in the German music press like Metal Hammer, Rock Hard and Deaf Forever. All in all, Michael Dietrich is an individual artist with great musical talent, rough edges and a strong vision aside from all the music mainstream.

Steemit Open Mic Week 93 | Volar - David suarez
(Original composition on guitar) by @davidsuarezms

One of the great things about the Blockchain is that we all get to experiences very unique musical styles from all around the globe.

David shared the following with me about his music -

You can include in your article something important that I consider about a fundamental aspect in what I like about my music, what I do, and that is that I always seek to transmit emotions through my pieces and focus on the instrument's ability to sing, express itself, transmit with each sound, also highlight that we guitarists are more than an instrument we are also a voice that resonates through the strings. Saludos

He certainly does make his guitar sing an incredible tune for this week's Open Mic. The spot where the piece picks up speed and builds momentum is just amazing.

Go listen and be mesmerized by every little note that David plays.

Facial Fireworks In Valencia: Castell de pals a l’antiga

@for91days never fail to amaze me with their travel posts. They always share incredible photos and video footage. They have been traveling the world for about 8 years now. For those not familiar with the couple, their name represents what they do as they travel to exotic locales all over the globe. They stay in each locale, immersing themselves in the local culture "For 91 Days."

This post isn't so much a travel post though. They fell in love with Valencia, Spain and now call it home whenever they are not visiting place for 91 days at a time. With the U.S. Independence Day celebrations happening less than two weeks ago it was great to see fireworks displays from the other side of the world. While here in America the displays are more vertical, launching colorful exploding shells high into the air, in Valencia it was more of a grounded affair. A coordinated, elaborate pattern of well timed out fiery light.

Go see the amazing light show from Valencia, Spain.

Opening tonight in Hollywood if anyone is around

@twirble is one of the most uniquely talented artists here on the Steem Blockchain. They have a certain style that many might feel remains too similar from piece to piece, but if you REALLY look at their work you can get lost in discovering every intricate detail. Once you do you will discover just how different each piece of their work actually is. This post treats us to multiple pieces of their work in one as they share some pieces that were featured in a local art gallery in Hollywood, California.

I would like people to know there is so much great talent on Steemit they just are not seeing if they focus on the trending page. I want to commit atrocities every time I hear someone mention the "crap" content" on Steemit. Curie is doing so much good in promoting good content; I thank you so much for this.

Go stare at each unique piece for a while.

Why Are Kids So Scary?

Images property of @lazarus-wist

What do the stories we tell each other tell us about ourselves? In the case of the horror genre, our tendency towards fearfulness appears to be the topic up for discussion. What makes us afraid, and why, is the question resting at the heart of every half-decent creature feature, ghost story, or slasher flick. Peel back the layers, and uncomfortable ideas about who we are, where we've come from, and where we're going to start to reveal themselves. I truly believe that in this day and age, you need look no further than your local cinema to get a glimpse into the hidden psychology behind our everyday lives. - @lazarus-wist

As a life-long horror fan, and someone who has made a bit of a career attached to the horror industry I love seeing someone opening up a discussion about why certain things in the horror genre work, and the psychological angle behind horror films. @lazarus-wist does an incredible job of that in this post which all about why the genre often focuses on the evil and horror surrounding, and at times caused by children.

If you are a horror fan, and maybe even if you are not, you will love reading - Why Are Kids So Scary?
