A quick rundown of the bigwaves project

The curation project for the Nigerian community, started by @donkeypong and supported by @infovore and @hanshotfirst, is a Nigerian communbity curation project aimed at giving Nigerian authors who genuinely merit curation, a reason to be happy and earn while blogging.

We started off with an initial humble delegation of 30,000 Steem powerm which was given to a central voting account for curation.
The project got even bigger with an additional delegation of 18,000 Steem power to individual curators.

A select few Nigerians were chosen to become the pioneers of curation within the Nigerian community among whom are:

The curators as we are rightly called are charged with the responsibility of gathering worthy posts from the #nigeria tag and curating such posts as well as building a relationship with the community.

The team is also tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of the sub-community and community from threats that may arise from the sub-community we are charged with curating.
Examples of such threats include, scammers, spammers, notorious plagiarists etc, while removing sentiments, partiality, personal issues and maintaining discipline, courtesy and accountability during post curation.

A trip to the previous reports

General Team Stats for last week curation

Due to population explosion within the Nigerian community over the last week, curated posts moved from the earlier given figure to almost within the range of thousands as more Nigerians are adopting the platform.
The selected posts were picked at random without any bias or nepotism, posts were screened for plagiaris before bieng curated. Although being human, we might sometime get err and submit a post for curation, but such posts are usually re-screened and dealt with.

A quick recap from here will explain it all.

The project initially started by @ehiboss and @ogoowinner with the aim of recruiting, mentoring and guiding new Nigerian steemians towards excellence, has evolved to a more structured level.
The project now also features backing from @ausbitbank. We hope to get more seasoned members of the community to join us and together, help structure a new generation of steemians towards excellence in the blogosphere and their various walks of life.

Come and play with us...

Getting curated

In the earlier curation series, the rules of curation were given as:
  • Post must be found in the #nigeria tag.
  • Post must not be guilty of plagiarism.
  • Post must not posses either @cheetah's or @steemcleaner's comment.
  • Post must show creativity.
  • Downloaded or borrowed pieces must be properly referenced.
  • Post must not be guilty of hate speech or deregatory remarks at a member of the steemit community.

These rules must be adhered to strictly please

General warning

Please note that image theft can occur from referenced images that were downloaded from copyrighted sources. Please authors are enjoined to use stocked images that are free to download from sites like shutterstock, pexels, pixabay and so many others, if you cannot confirm if the image is copyrighted or not.
Tip: Avoid wikipedia images as they are sometimes copyrighted.

Fraudulent agendas are not tolerated. Agendas like:
  • HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs)
  • Ponzi schemes
  • Scamming
  • Threats on fellow Nigerian community members's lives and safety
  • Suspicious and malicious links
  • Identity theft
  • Cyber bullying

They are barbaric and the Nigerian community does not tolerate such. We condemn such activities and anyone caught within the Nigerian community trying to perpetuate scam will be dealt with.
If you catch any Nigerian doing such, please report to the Nigerian curation team ( @donkeypong, @hanshotfirst, @infovore, @ehiboss, @ogoowinner, @fisteganos, @gbenga, @destinysaid).

Wanna support?

Well we are trying our bests, but there is always room for more if we are given more. With a rather noticeable and gigantic growth of the Nigerian community on the platform, the need arises for more SP delegation to authors to do more for the community at large.

If you wish to support the Nigerian community curation team and help us keep the flag flying and keep the good work up, you can support us with more SP delegations, please contact @donkeypong on steemit.chat

A united African front: The Africa united project

A quick link to my explanatory post on it.
The project by some notable steemians like @dragonslayer109, @gavvet etc is designed to help curate African posts by African authors and Nigeria just happens to be in Africa.

Two groups were created on steemit chat for it. One group(africa posts) for post promotion for African authors, while the other (africa united) for chat.
The groups are closed groups, meaning that they require approval from an administrator of the group to enter. The good news is If you are an African and you are on steemit.chat and you are yet to be added, please signify in the comment section of this post or simply message either of @ehiboss, @maryfavour, @dragonslayer109 or @gavvet on steemit.chat and kindly request to be added.

Remember to be at S.I.N.
