Good morning everyone! today, we will talk about the Kleros platform and its features as well as its whole ecosystem about bringing the resolution to be decentralized and an openly-sourced one. This is my second article post about Kleros as well. I liked the community and the team's vision and mission to bring back the power to everyone who wants to help with resolving cases and bring back the justice quickly, convenient and inexpensive with the trusted community of decentralized and highly reputable jurors of our community from different walks of life and specialties as well. I do believe that the content that is owned and created by us should always be categorized to the correct ones and us people should be the one to determine who's who and which is which for this internet age. Alright, that will be for my introduction and my opinion. Let us now proceed with the meat of the topic of Kleros. This will be exciting!
Note: All of the images that you will see are properties of the Kleros platform and its team. I am only sharing it here for the purpose of showing the imagery. All should be seen here in this source: https://kleros.io/en/as well as in the white paper: Source: https://kleros.io/static/whitepaper_en-8bd3a0480b45c39899787e17049ded26.pdf
What is KLEROS court ecosystem and what are the different features of it?
----> Kleros, as said, is a decentralized court or blockchain dispute resolution community court wherein it can be used for the arbitration of different disputes whether it be for smart contracts, small claims courts, business disputes, E-commerce, etc. Aside from these real-life applications for Kleros, we do have other use-cases such as the Dapps or the decentralized apps and the Use-cases that are already operational. I will explain each of them in the following narration.
A. KLEROS court--> This is the generic and the most flagship blockchain resolution layer that occurs for this project. This is where the jurors who are the ones that will give the main decision or what I could say as 'supreme court' of the Kleros ecosystem. This court is the one that facilitates the active cases that are being presented into the Kleros blockchain and all of the 'challengers' and 'challenged' are being resolved. All of these actions are recorded via the blockchain back-end and it is immutable. Therefore, any decisions and responses plus the appeals will be all recorded in the dispute layer while the cases are still ongoing until it is unchallenged anymore or a resolution has already been decided by the majority of jurors.
Here, Let me show you a picture of my own Kleros court webpage and the page from the example made by the Kleros' website.
My own screenshot:
Website of Kleros' court picture:
As you could see in the pictures above, there is ETH and PNK which means the Ethereum coin and the Pinakion token. respectively. The Kleros court works like this: The ETH and PNK are both being 'staked' by the participatory parties in the decentralized courts. But there is a difference. The Ethereum coins are being staked by the submitter or the ones who are disputing something or a challenger who disputes or challenges the actions made by the challenge author or disputer. If one of them will not be able to win the dispute case, the Ethereum of the losing party will be lost and will go to the one who challenged it and got undisputed or accepted already by the Kleros court. It will be the payment to the one who won the case. Not only ETH will be divided into those who ruled the case coherently or justly, but also the Pinakion token(PNK) will also be divided to the jurors that are the majority who voted for a certain case. While the losing juror who did not vote coherently and not just in giving their vote will lose their staked PNK tokens.
I have an example for you about this. For example, there is a product being bought by one person from Asia thru an e-commerce website. After the product has been delivered, the recipient complains that the product that they got is either defective or a sub-standard one which contradicts to the advertised product. This goes for a Kleros court arbitration. Wherein the complainant will choose a court from the Kleros court depending on the severity of a dispute. Since this is an e-commerce dispute, The small claims court of Kleros can be used. If it is a blockchain or coding disputes and other things technical more than this, there are other courts that are being managed systematically by the Kleros blockchain. Going back to the example above, the complainant will submit all the necessary details and pieces of evidence to be submitted to the Kleros court. After that, the complainant will also need to stake ETH. So that it is like a proof of legitimacy and can be brought back to the complainant once the allegations to the one who is being complaint is correct and true. After that, the smart contract will automatically give the ETH back to the complainant and the payment can go back to the complainant as well since he/she received a defective product. The one who got disputed can also appeal if the product is not really defective. Whoever wins in the case gets back their ETH and the payment as well as PNK.
For the jurors' side, because they are the ones who arbitrate the case, they will also need to stake their PNK or Pinakion tokens as their like 'proof of participation' to the raffle to those who want to be a juror in a particular case. As per the Kleros white paper, the more PINAKION tokens you stake or hold, the more likely you are going to be a juror for the case. here is a screenshot illustration of "weights" to be drawn as a juror the more you have PNK tokens.
The one who held 3000 PNK Tokens does have a weight of 2. The highest probability that he/she will be the juror. Let me tell you guys, these jurors do not know each other so that there will be no bias when it comes to the decision making of everyone. They will be coherent and just in the decision-making. Because if not, the minority votes at the end of the deciding stage will lose their PNK stakes. While the majority of votes from jurors will get the arbitration fees in PNK and ETH as well that is automatically computed by the smart contract made by our brilliant Kleros developers. Amazing right? That is just one of the features of the Kleros ecosystem. This is what I understand about the power and the process of Kleros and how the Pinakion token which is the native token of Kleros works. I was really amazed that it really is possible to have this kind of court! Fully decentralized! No bias and other unjust jurors.
Next, we will continue to talk about Kleros Governance.
KLEROS GOVERNANCE
---> In this part of Kleros ecosystem, I checked it one by one and what I found out was that the Kleros Governance is a part of Kleros wherein the whole Kleros team, jurors around the world, Kleros developers, clients/customers and creative people can collaborate so that they could propose what they want to improve in the Kleros project. I checked one wherein they were proposing something about how much ETH and arbitration fees plus the PNK tokens to be staked for a particular task or case. Not only cases are am I seeing in the governance but also different tasks that can be incentivized by PNK. Let me show you a screenshot of the Kleros Governance using the Aragon.
Here are also sample screenshots that I saw. There are descriptions and technical improvements that they are proposing.
T2CR(TOKEN CURATED REGISTRY)
--> Let us proceed and let me talk about this curated registry. This part of the Kleros system court is where people can submit all legitimate projects in the blockchain and a team of decentralized jurors around the world can verify the legitimacy of the project token. Basically, what they will do here is to submit, then the experts of the blockchain technology in Ethereum will check it and if it was accepted, the one who submits it can get back their ETH that was staked. Aside from that, the jurors will also get incentivized by it. If there are disputes, then it can go to the blockchain court of Kleros.
The beauty of the Token curated registry is to have legitimate tokens get recognized and the scams and other non-sense projects get trashed out. For long term purposes, you can check tokens here for your investments not to go to waste.
Here is a screenshot from the https://tokens.kleros.io/tokens website:
KLEROS ESCROW SERVICE
--> I know that most of us are familiar with the word 'Escrow'. It is a 3rd-party entity wherein they are the one who facilitates the exchange of both money and services into a contract wherein the contactor and contracted should both agree and execute what was being agreed upon. After the work or the transaction was confirmed from both parties, the smart contract escrow will be triggered, and what's what for which is which will be sent whether it be freelance work or a crypto transaction, etc. Here is the escrow of Kleros wherein whether a freelance work or token exchange will take place.
CRYPTO UNLOCKED
---> This is one of the most exciting places in Kleros. It is a place wherein you can create campaigns similar to what like the centralized ones like Gofundme etc are doing. In the Cryptounlocked platform, people can run campaigns of their own and get the amount of Ethereum being raised once the conditions of the campaign were satisfied. When we say the campaign was satisfied was when the campaign was successfully done as said in the specific conditions in the campaign. You can also see the Smart contract details and how the funds raised will go to once the event was finished successfully, or the event finished unsuccessfully. Let me share with you guys one of the campaigns that I launched as well. I was lucky enough because it was Wetrust that paid for the gas and transaction fees for this campaign that I published. Here is the link: https://cryptounlocked.wetrust.io/will-bittrex-list-pinakion-pnk-before-31-dec-2020-11-59pm-utc-08-00--a44fVnK8Tw
Here is a screenshot of it.
REALITIO
---> Realitio for me is like the decentralized Reddit and Quora of Kleros. Wherein someone will be able to ask questions about something and the best answer or the correct answer was given, the rewards in ETH will be given to them. As well as if the answer was challenged again, there will be a dispute and Kleros court will rule on it. As usual, ETH will be given as a staking mechanism in this. I think Realitio was the name because we only wanted what's real!
DISPUTE RESOLVER
--> All right, let us proceed to the next feature of the Kleros community platform which is the Dispute resolver. This is like comparable to the 'pending cases' on the justice courtrooms and different pending supreme court cases. It is like a library wherein you could check whether a dispute was raised and being arbitrated by different jurors around the world to give justice to someone in need. I loved it how was designed and how it was organized by the Kleros team. Here is the screenshot of it again guys!
As you can see, there are a different number of cases here and different types of cases. Whether it be General court hearings, blockchain, technical, non-technical, Token listings like in TCR2, Marketing, video production, Onboarding and curation. All are in there! You may also interact with different cases and even create a dispute of your own! Here is a screenshot from my Dapp:
KLEROS SCAN
--> A blockchain is not a blockchain without the blockchain explorer. This is the scanner of the Kleros blockchain wherein you can search for the cases or disputes that are ongoing using the Ethereum blockchain. Everything is transparent here and makes the lives of every juror easy by navigating on it and checking how the cases where they were jurors are doing. Here is the screenshot of it!
KLEROS-ORACLE
--> This is what makes me go 'wow!' on Kleros. Why? Because with Kleros Oracle, sources of information that are legitimate and those that are facts ONLY can be included in the blockchain on-chain mechanism of the Kleros platform. Therefore, it is implied that AI or artificial intelligence is not intelligent if there are no outside sources that make it intelligent right? In the end, the blockchain needs something that programs it to filter what is right or wrong, what is just or not, what is moral and immoral. We are the one who feeds it. It is us people with integrity, heart, and passion that make the Kleros community and its resolution power gets more magnified in this world full of disputes because of unscrupulous people. We are still here to make this world a better place as always!
KLEROS CURATE
Alright, everyone! All eyes on this one, please. Let us focus attention on Kleros Curate. This is the last but not the least addition or being promoted by our Kleros ecosystem. I saw the different applications of the Kleros courts and how it works. I do also participate in their programs and I also try to contribute to the different channels in order to promote the greatness of this project.
As I have read the primer about Kleros Curate here, https://blog.kleros.io/kleros-curate-the-explainer/#hide1
The Kleros Curate for me in my opinion and based on the explanation on the blog of Kleros, it is like you, a Kleros enthusiast will be like or act as a 'Moderator' in this decentralized world/platform. Being a moderator and keeping the list in what it was saying it used to be is hard because you need critical thinking and analysis of the topic and the lists that are being submitted by our community members and even the anonymous listing creators around the globe. If you know Craigslist which is a centralized list of services and products and other lists of anything that you could imagine is in there. They do have employees who are doing the moderation and there are even for adults only and even NSFWs. These are being segregated by the moderators of the Craigslist company. Same as for the social media giants Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. With Facebook, if ever there is an offensive content or spam-like posts, the user can report it by clicking something on like 'This is a spam' or 'scam'. Then the Facebook team and other moderators will check it if it is legitimate spam or scam until it gets removed.
Now, this is the question, does the one who reports the malicious links or contents on the list gets rewarded? A big NO! Only the moderators are being paid by the big companies. So here is where Curate of Kleros takes place. You will be the one to 'challenge' which is the centralized equivalent of 'report' if it was factual, immoral, NSFWs, For adults only and etc. This is where the power of decentralization takes place. The more who reports it that it is not should be on the list of something on the Curate platform, then it will be automatically be removed on the Curate list. Whether it be any list of anything, token lists, freelance platforms, food facts, etc.!
However, it is not all the time that the one who challenge a specific type of list is correct, that is why there is the Curate disputes that could take place and whoever deemed correct and in the topic by the decentralized jurors will win the ETH getting staked and gets the PNK that was staked for arbitration fees for jurors.
Basically, what Kleros Curate mission and vision are to have a list of factual and beneficial for humanity wherein who dares challenge the truth and justice will surely lose their stake. So this Curate platform is really for those who work with integrity and just means to make this digital world and information intact and adheres to the human knowledge of what is right and wrong.
With Curate, we can also call it as a 'Fake-news' buster. Because it is open-sourced and everyone can join to be able to provide a source wherein everyone can verify if the news is telling the truth or not.
I have read that there are many use-cases of Curate. One of it is already being implemented by Kleros team which is the TOKEN curated registry or TRC2.
As on my end and opinion, which I also saw them here,
I realized that Curate can be used for bounty programs about Cryptocurrency. Because believe it or not, I got experience wherein I do social media works and articles for ICOs and other blockchain projects that became a scam in the end. Or they lack funds and decided to stop the bounty or just stopping the project completely. What a waste right? That is why with Curate, we can add to the list the different project managers that can have escrows of the bounty or even get a stablecoins if ever the project got default, the bounty hunters will have 'insurance' that they will still get something.
Therefore, we can also create a list wherein people will get negative trust ratings for scamming people and bounty hunters so that they will never be able to create blockchain projects anymore.
With Curate, you take back the power again to make community-approved lists worldwide. The Kleros team wants that every information was verified. Alongside Curate, there is the Kleros Oracle where experts collaborate to make the AI always working well and be able to spot what is correct and incorrect in the current events and those that are being submitted.
Different parameters can be set also in the Curate platform whenever you create a list. With the boolean conditions, plus the if-then-else structures, it will be easy to create a trustworthy list.
