I want to challenge everyone who was using Steemvoter to focus your curation powers on good and helping new users and those outside your normal circle.

SteemVoter is down!

In case you didn't notice, steemvoter is down it sounds like it could be for almost a week. This means all your favorite authors and friends aren't going to be getting there votes, so if you wish be sure to head over and support them all, but I challenge you to seek out some new users to support, take some extra time to search through some tags you enjoy and help out a few struggling minnows. They are the future and the more we can increase the active user base on steemit the better it is going to be for us all in the long term.

Of course if you do want to cast auto votes you could always use SteemAuto. I'm not familiar with it but just a couple days ago a friend here on steemit offered this great review of the service. It looks pretty robust and actually has a few more features and no paid premium service.

I hate change so I'm more than happy to wait for steemvoter to come back online and enjoy this chance to do some manual curation.

Manual Curation

My challenge to everyone reading is that you take this week while steemvoter is down to give some manual curation a try, and not just manually curating your same circle. Make some new friends and help out some new users. I'm sure it will put a smile on there faces and really encourage them to be more active here on steemit. I know your friends are probably going to miss your votes, heck I'm likely even one of them if your reading this, but I'm sure they'll understand just for this week.

I've found great benefit and satisfaction recently with actively trying to upvote and support new users. See how you feel after the end of the week, maybe you'll have some warm and fuzzy's and feel good about the good deed you have done. There's nothing I don't like more than hitting someone new with a 100% upvote and watching there reputation rise a few points. I can't wait till my 100% upvote is finally worth a full $1. There'll be a lot of 100% votes to new users and fresh posts that day!

Give it a try, find some new users to Curate

I didn't realize how many people had me on steemvoter! As soon as it went down, my upvotes went quiet. On one hand, I'm honored that people trust me to make good posts that they do not mind upvoting without curating. On the other hand, now I can see who is upvoting because they READ my post and appreciated it. Either way, manual curating is something everyone should be doing anyway, in addition to steemvoter.

BTW, I received my package on Friday, much appreciated! Excellent service, smooth as silk. That CANADA 150 is really nice. @ironshield

Glad you like the round man. I wish I had more time to check out more posts and do more manual voting. I'm just going to need to get more voting power so it stretches farther.

Good idea mate, I haven't done in on new users in a while. Having Steem Vote down has allowed my voting power to increase though ;)

I just gave this an UP Vote and I also gave an UP Vote to everyone that was on here that had commented before I did. STEEMIT is about being kind to others. I am trying to Live the Golden Rule................

Auto voting is lame anyway

haha, it can be a bit soulless at times, but effective when we are busy, etc ... it's a way of not forgetting those we support or just to keep our STEEM producing more ching-a-ling

I personally never vote for anything I didn't read.

The sea of new users is wide and deep. Content is usually good. Come in and do some manual curating, the water is fine. I've been doing this since I started here six months ago and I have found new friends and great content.

Yeah, your definitely a master new user finder. I've found some great users from your resteems.

Thank you, @phelimint!

oh wow. I didn't even know that autovoting happened. This is a really great idea to give newbies an incentive to create more content and get themselves noticed. It's pretty chilly, those first few days. You were one of the first to give me a leg-up and it was always appreciated.

I'm waiting for my voting power to return (tomorrow) and will then upvote. thanks Phelimint :)

Yeah, it's a slow start for newbies, but just keep at it!

Venture outside my circle 😣 as I probably won't do that I have helped 5 guys sign up this week 😎 Steemsilvergold goin up! 📈

I noticed, master recruiter, keep it up. I barely recruited one guy in six months...lol.

A great challenge and a super idea. We have a mini-lab opportunity to see what we can do as a broad community. Looking forward to participating even as I normally do, through this time frame. Thank you very much for proffering this information and challenge. Best of luck, be well.

I 100% agree with you @phelimint. As a new user I was delighted that my intro post gained nearly 100 views and quite a few upvotes. It is challenging when you are new here and trying to build a follower base so you can make some posts that are going to be seen.
I'm not across SteemVoter and manually like posts but I will continue to like new users and content.
Great post

Oh yeah, those first few months can be pretty hard and lonely, just keep at it and you'll start getting noticed.

I know quite a few people are not so thrilled about it being down but I am for one welcome the change. Steemit starts to get very interesting when the humans are left alone to their own device and not being overshadowed by automation.

I only have one person I even had auto voted on anymore. I just prefer manual curation as I love to leave comments anyways. Some days I swear I upvote comments more than I do blogs.

Yeah, I cut mine down considerable recently, but still never seam to have enough voting power.

Beautifully written. It motivates me as a new user on Steemit and makes me feel that we too have a chance at succeeding if at least some old timers like you help us out.

Too bad that I have an arm injury which is stopping me from creating content of my own. But I am trying my best to remain engaged by taking part in the discussions on other's posts. This involves less typing and formatting.

I hope that my time will also come, just have to wait while my fractured arm recovers.

yeah, anyone can succeed, just takes persistence and motivation. Best to start with commenting anyways.

i am all for that, i'm 100% manual, and every day look for fresh steemians to throw some coins to, a little goes a long way at the beginning to keep people engaged and understand there is really a community here / peace !

Yeah, such a bit help to motivate people when there starting out.

I have never used an auto voter before. I might want to in the furure, but I also think manual curation is the best, and that's how Steemit was made to be.

Its great finding new users and undervalued posts its a sea of knowledge to trawl trough :)

It's definitely been interesting to see the difference in post value accruals with the service being out for a week. I've seen a few authors who usually have hundreds of dollars within minutes on whatever they post have less than $20 near the 30 minute mark a couple of times. Makes for a good opportunity to catch a good curation reward if you find one of these (maybe).

I think it's kind of cool for us to go through and look at all the stuff we're voting on from time to time although I'm sure since you're running STAX it's a bit more of a pain in the butt than it is for me because you have to hunt down a lot more content than I do. My biggest problem is maybe a little it less curation rewards this week and having higher voting power on average so no big deal.

I've tried to keep voting regularaly because I feel it's kind of a waste if I'm ever sitting at 100% power.

yeah, it's been very different to see some of the pay outs. I know I've seen a slight cut, but glad it's going to some other worthy steemians.

Thanks for the info I appreciate your post @phelimint

Worth checking out as an alternative, but nope looks like that isn't working either.

I only just started using steemvoter to upvote only a few posts that I usually get to much later, or sometimes forget to support. It's a good service.

P.S. ... I'm new here.... don't forget to upvote me!!! Hahaha!!!

and I wondered about my 100% voting power ^^

You have received an upvote from STAX. Thanks for being a member of the #steemsilvergold community and opting in (if you wish to be removed please follow the link). Please continue to support each other in this great community. To learn more about the #steemsilvergold community and STAX, check this out.

I always vote manually and need to try Steem voter. Are you the one form Silverbugs and Bullionstackers?

I have never used an online voting service, only manually curating all the time, it's weird to see how many lists I am on that seemed to have been autodone all this time. And to see how many people seem to be offline this week.

Your mission is really great. I am also fond of supporting my fellow minnows. I hate the feeling of not getting enough upvotes. Much more, it hurts to see a post blank without even any comments. I have made it my advocacy to help minnows in the platform especially with regards to their psyche and confidence.

Do you know any groups which makes it their mission to support new users? Minnow support is great but it doesnt really have a support system or anything that rewards ppl for helping out users.

You have excellent content. Do you mind if I follow you? I would love to hear more from you. Have a great day
