Feb 5 -- Steemit Ramble #67 -- Don't You Hate Missing Good Posts?

in curation •  8 years ago

Today, I’ve been on Steemit for six months. I wrote about my last six months earlier today. You can read it here. Here’s to the next six months.

I’m home today and glad to be. It’s been snowing off and on outside. Don’t know why, just because it is winter in Canada. This winter seems to have a thing about Tuesdays. Looking at the forecast for Tuesday, we are once again expecting a storm, freezing rain this time. Supposed to get up to 2” of snow Monday evening, then freezing rain during the day on Tuesday. If that happens, I’ll be home on Tuesday too.

Onward to today’s rambling

a glimpse of violet

@johnjgeddes takes us through another of his fiction pieces. This one pulls us into a gentler, quieter and more idyllic time. Well worth the read.

Simple Pleasures

@merej99 explores the simple pleasures in her life but not just her current life, but at various stages. Our perspectives change as our life progresses but we often don’t realize the change has happened until later when we look back and reflect.

Port Alfred

I’m not a traveller but I am often able to appreciate the beauty of a far away place through photography. @rynow shares the grandeur of the seaside at Port Alfred, on the east coast of South Africa.

A credo for a new way of being

@smalltracks writes about the balance of life, the often imperceptible links between us and the need to be ever present in our lives while being mindful of others.

Feeling Lonely? Get Up, Go And Have The Day You Deserve!

The title of this post is just a portion of what it is about. I almost didn’t have a look at it, I rarely, if ever feel lonely. I’ve come to realize that I’m comfortable with my own company that I don’t crave the company of others. I can enjoy the company of others, but it is not a necessity.

Having said that, I can feel isolated and alone when others are attacking me. Being in a leadership position, that happens often. Thankfully, over the years, I’ve come to learn that there are those who will seek to tear me down and there are those who appreciate that I have to take stands and they support me as a person, even if they disagree with my stand.

From that I’ve learned that I have to take people as they are, often forgiving and putting aside past behaviour to build alliances. @mammasitta touches on many aspects of our lives where we need to be aware and open to our actions and others in order to keep moving forward.

[Question of the week] Why do we write?

For most of us who are active on Steemit, @sstefan writes the $64,000 question, why do we write? Myself, I write to communicate and to share, with myself and with others. Yes, I said with myself. Ever notice how your thoughts come to mind, they roll around, sometimes they become an obsession and then they move on, making way for new thoughts. When I write my thoughts down, the screen or the paper becomes a mirror for them to be reflected back to me for further consideration or to be discarded as needed. Writing communicates and preserves.

Icy art

The detail that can be carved into ice sculptures never ceases to astound me. Or, maybe I’m easily astounded but check out these great photos of ice sculptures.

Breaking Up With Diet Soda

@innavtsh writes about first her drinking of regular pop during her college years and after realizing how bad drinking pop is, switching over to diet pop. So many drink diet pop and think they are doing something healthy. They aren’t. @innavtsh caught on to that and stopped drinking diet pop too. Good for her.

Random thought... how is the soul/consciousness connected to the universe?

Ever find your mind wandering around to odd and strange places? Seems @everydaymusician had his mind considering where the wanderings of his soul could take him when he would lack the control to control the movement. Makes you stop and think a bit.

Wrap-up on Day #67

One of the things I love about Steem is the way so many posts make me stop and ponder what I think about them. I notice that most of the posts on sites like Facebook rarely do that.

Supporting and Upvoting

Let’s not forget folks. I’m sharing these posts not only because I like them. I’d really like to see them get support and upvoting. I know some of the posts have done okay by the time I post my ramble, but some really could use the support and upvoting.

Subscribing to My Posts

In addition to following me on Steemit, which I really appreciate. If you want to be sure to know about every post, you can subscribe at my other blog. I’ll send you an email when I post.

Congratulations on reaching another milestone @shadowspub! Here's to the next 6 months, may they be just as full of life.

thank you @rebeccaryan ... should be an interesting time.

Hi @shadowspub
Thank you for mentioning my post. I will follow you to more interesting posts to read. Thanks again.

You're welcome and thank you for the follow. Keep up the great work.

I am truly flattered and so thankful for your words , time to read , especially your own interpretation, that you appreciated, even valued my thoughts. It felt like a little cold winter day ramble 🙈 to remind myself that those "to-be- alone " moments are so important to reflect. To feel lonely can be sad maybe for some but for me so refreshing at the same time. Hope this makes sense 😳

Very good job dear friend @shadowspub
Congratulations to the mencinados authors of the day

thank you @jlufer

you are welcome

Congratulations on your 6 months' anniversary! I'm a fellow Canadian (British Columbia), and it's still snowing here, too - several days down, and several more to come, I believe. I swear, the older I get, the less I enjoy winter, lol. Thanks so much for always providing interesting, thoughtful posts for us to read - I'm a fan and really appreciate your efforts!

thank you for your very kind words. I have a brother in Campbell River. Never been out there myself. Tomorrow when the freezing rain hits, it could get nasty here. Supposed to be several hours. Just hoping hydro stays on.

Ouch! Be safe and warm! I'm in the Central Okanagan; we're in a bit of a valley here and have lots of snow!

I see that central BC has been getting more than normal.

Yes we have. However, we need the snow - and lots of rain in the spring, if we want to avoid drought conditions in the hot summer!

Well done on the six month mark:)
