This is my entry into @flipstar #teach-me contest

"It is only when you curate and resteem another stemians post that you rejoice fully in its popularity."

My teaching instinct gets aroused when an opportunity presents itself.

It is not the vast knowledge that I have but just 'the teacher in me.'

The more I learn in steemit is the more I want to spread the love.

  • Knowledge is power, and power shared is dynamite.

Who is a curator?

Curator comes from 'curare' which is the Latin word for 'to take care.'

A curator then is a person who takes care.

He is a manager or an overseer.

In steemit, a curator may be termed as a content promoter.

He is charged with the responsibility of:

  • identifying quality content.

  • Upvoting the content.

  • resteeming the content and

  • advertising the content in social media.

  • If possible, he comments on the content.

Why should one do all these?

One is involved in all these to ensure:

  • the post is noticed
  • other people vote on it
  • it becomes popular
  • earns good
  • earns curative rewards to the owner of the post, the curator and other curators too.

@naquoya when writing about curation said, "keep adapting curative strategy as you progress."

What does this mean? According to my understanding, It means that there are as many methods to curate as there stemians.

He also may mean that you will start low and get better with time.

However, there are guidelines.

. You must upvote a post after half an hour. The first thirty minutes, the curation goes to the author.

. You need steem power. Every stemian is charged with 20% every day depending on his steem power. Every time you vote, you lose 2% of the balance of the charge you have.

. Only upvote posts in your perspective are potentially quality material.

. Curate posts of content you relate to.
. Remember, minnows have a small voting power unlike whales who have the power on the influence on posts. However, that does not hinder you from curating.

Types of curating

. Manual

. Auto voting

Some Hints On Commenting On Curated Posts

. Comments happen to be the best method in which you can advertise yourself.

Always after curating, one has to comment on the post.

Avoid the ,'nice post' comments.

Your comments should add value to the post. The author must know you read the article.

Make a paragraph long comment.

Be courteous and pleasant. Never comment to annoy. It will ruin your reputation.

Why do you resteem a post you curated?

To make more people especially your followers notice it.

You can monitor the progress of the curated post.

Resteeming is another way to rekindle the fire of the post.

Resteeming is not for returning a good deed.

It is not something to be done just because you asked for it. The resteemed post must be quality.

NB

If a post is not quality, it will not improve with resteeming.
