Some thoughts on voting and curation by @gavvet

Procuring the @steve-walschot has had some unintended consequences.

I never intended to have 2 accounts with significant Steem Power but it has given me the opportunity to run some interesting voting/curation experiments.

When I took over the account is was linked in a couple of curation trains using streemian.com (a service provided by @xeroc)

I received great customer support in adjusting this account on steemian as the situation was a little unique.

I liked the service so much I started using it so that the @steve-walschot could automatically follow the @gavvet account when voting.

I only started voting aggressively with the @gavvet account in September/October once my Steem Power enabled it to be more effective and I started helping out in various curation guilds.

Being there at the start of Curie was a blast with @donkeypong leading the way... we learned a lot from those early experiments and a number of other voting guilds were spun off. I still actively participate in guilds and now devote most of my vote power to these guilds, even though I still do the voting manually.

Having a second account to follow my primary account has shown me a lot about vote following.

Vote following is a very effective means of adding voting power to good causes like guilds or if you don't have the time to manually vote due to being on vacation (as I was in December.)

I have also started using steemvoter mostly to catch some of my favorite authors that live in different time zones and post when I am asleep.

I still however do most of my voting manually and devote most of my votes to guilds as that is how I find my votes add the most value to authors that are persistent and consistent. It has also proved an effective way to earn a couple of curation rewards and with some aggressive powering up I have finally managed to reach a goal in that arena.

Voting should be about voting for what you like and not be thought about too much. The object is spread the benefits of steemit as widely as possible.

But if you are trying to make a science out of it and if you are battling to find a voting strategy that works for you or just don't have the time to do it manually, you are welcome to contribute your vote to a couple of guilds by vote-following the @steve-walschot account on streemian.com

I suggest you rather vote-follow @steve-walschot than the @gavvet account as I use the @gavvet account to experiment regularly.

I am open to any experiments :) I know this will sound stupid, but is there no way for you to combine the two accounts....that would've helped wouldn't it?

I will do that in time, when I see fit to powerdown the SW account

Aha...that is what I thought you were going to do!

Now... that would be telling....

its, still a work in progress.

But if I must, vote following works if you follow the right voter

Thanks for the mention :)
