Community Curator Application from Steem Atlas

Steem Atlas is a map based interface to the Steem blockchain.

The project has been developed by the @pennsif.witness team.

Although it has only been running for a couple of months it is already building a growing group of regular users.

Having a Community Curator account would help the project grow significantly by providing much greater curation resources to attract many more new users.

What is Steem Atlas

The Illuminated Atlas of the Steem-Powered World takes its inspiration from the old Steemit Worldmap, originally by @martibis, that ran successfully on Steem for several years before the 'big split'.

The @pennsif.witness team (@pennsif, @rexthetech, @freelance.monkey) have built this Steem Atlas with new technology and a new mapping system.

Steem Atlas provides a new interface to the many thousands of place or location based posts on the Steem blockchain.

We very much see the Steem Atlas as an outward looking project.

It has great potential to attract people to join Steem.

People cannot resist a zoomable map with pins - they will always zoom in to explore places they know 😀

How a Community Curation Account would help grow Steem Atlas

Steem has over 40,000 posts that were 'inherited' from the old Steemit Worldmap project.

Since its launch Steem Atlas has already attracted a small band of regular users.

Having access to a Community Curation account would allow rewards to be given to many more users which would undoubtedly encourage much greater use of Steem Atlas.

As well as rewarding authors creating new posts we have also launched a program to encourage people to add their old relevant posts to Steem Atlas simply by adding a geo-locating code...

As well as regular curation, we are organising quizzes and contests to promote Steem Atlas to the wider Steem community.

New Version and Full Launch

Steem Atlas has been running in beta since a soft launch a couple of months ago.

In the next few days we will be releasing a new version and moving to full launch.

This new version will have an improved user interface and new search facilities. It is also be better optimised for use on smartphones and tablets.

Getting a Community Curator account from 1 February will fit in perfectly with the full launch of Steem Atlas.

With the growing number of new games and apps now being developed for Steem it will be great if the Community Curator accounts can be used to promote these projects to the wider Steem community.

This is really good and I've tried posting and also posting outside and putting into the community by taking a location on steem-atlas this is really interesting @pennsif thank you so much for being #steem-atlas is very helpful
