Venezuela,under the dome

 48 hours without light

People take to the streets to express their despair at the lack of the vital resource. Damaged food, days without being able to work, without being able to buy anything, without being able to communicate, because there is no signal and only two radio stations work, they say that we should wait calmly.

Is there an alternative? From Thursday 7, 2019 at 5 pm, the electricity was cut off.

Since then, we have no light. We spend very dark nights because not even the moon is shown, it is not time to go out. And we only see how the reflection of the lights of the cars enters through the window. Until they stop passing and there is only much darkness and silence.

If it weren't for the sunlight, we wouldn't be able to see our faces with so many blackouts. But this, in particular, is the one that has lasted the longest, and that has been more than 20 years, since I have memory, they have always removed the light for whatever reason, sabotage and a good lack of maintenance. We got used to it, without wanting to.

Talking to people from other countries makes us feel like we're taking big steps backwards and they're shocked because they can't explain how that can happen, in a country that had it all. And because electricity is essential for a nation to progress.

We become submissive people without realizing it. We hope for a freedom we don't know if it will come. And it's strange to be without light at night for so long. It makes us think that in reality if we are dominated and that we have no escape, because the more time passes, the more doors close. People seek to be optimistic but along the way there is always something that reminds us that we live in socialism.

And we expect more days like this. We all feel like we're in a dome, on a national level.

72 hours since the light went out

Although it seems to be a lie, although it seems that it is only something already daily for us... It gives the sensation that, this will be another new stage of the terrible reality that we will have to live. Where I live, they announced that we have 40% of gas left. It would already be the third in the three basic services we need to survive.

It is very sad what is approaching, one lives in a country where ironically there is an abundance of scarcity in all senses: food, medicine, cash, basic services. And we are surrounded by misery, anguish and disease.

Today I went out to look for food, to see if somewhere the signal for the points of sale had arrived; after so much walking and not finding anything, I found a place where cards with wireless point passed even though there was no light and because of that there were many people but I was able to buy something and after all I wonder.

And how do people with a serious illness feel in a country like this?  I wondered because I found out that someone who was very sick had taken their own life.

Is this serious enough to make us want to die?

  - I think so.

And now, just minutes before the sun goes out and waiting for the moment to post this, I feel that submission walks the streets and people get used to a bad life for fear of having their only treasure, life, taken away from them. It is accepted so little because it is thought that at some point everything will improve.

"Poor of those who let their minds be dominated by depression and sadness because they will find more darkness than there already is".

Today, apart from being a dark night, it seems that it will be a cold and rainy night.

  96 hours without light

In our minds we no longer command only ourselves. For it is at the summit that they decide when and how they take things away from us, even our calm. The faces change, they become greyer and it gives an empty sensation of hopelessness.

Today I left my house again, but to go much further, an hour from here, to the center. I needed to know what was going on in our state. There was no way to find out.

I found out that they were protesting strongly all these days, looting food shops, medicines and a bank. I was close to the red spot of protests, which was being surrounded by pellets and terror.

Besides that, greedy people sold their meat products in bad condition just so they wouldn't lose anything, knowing that it could hurt others.

"This society is becoming more and more polluted."

115 hours without light

It culminates the wave of consecutive hours without light but without ignoring the blackouts that there will always be and all the psychological, physical damages that it causes. I just want the light to reach this home, this road, this country.
