A Sense Of Belonging

πŸ˜‚Hello all stemians from around the world. Steemit is a great community that has brought us together. This is not just a community but a big extended family. Am very happy to belong here.πŸ˜‚

All human beings feel vulnerable at times. They always need a shoulder to lean on. Social network saw this need and cashed on them. Steemit happens to offer more than that. Steemit adds value to life. The value can be felt by becoming a bona fide member of steemit. Here there are neither grudges nor fighting. It is an ideal setup of great harmony.

😁# A Life Experience#😁

The Borana community in Isiolo decided that all the land there belonged to them and other communities had no right living and owning land there. It was in the late 90's when this happened. The Borana armed with slashers, strings and tape measures poured themselves on other people's land to proclaim it. It was just God's mercies that war never erupted. The affected tribes, including the Aameru, who were adversly affected, met. Their resolution was simple.

  • No business belonging to non-Borana was to open in Isiolo.

  • There was no vehicle of any nature was to enter or leave Isiolo town.

  • Nobody was to physically enter into fights with the Borana.

  • The land marks that were erected by the Borana was to be left untouched.

  • Foodstuffs and groceries were to be sold to non-BoraΓ±a's through backdoor.

πŸ˜‚# An Approar #😐

It never took too long before there was an approar. Isiolo town and most other towns in Northern Kenya depend on other tribes from the south for food and other supplies. Normally they sell their cΓ ttle in Nairobi and get their supplies from there. Since no vehicle was to leave or enter Isiolo town then things were at a standstill. Isiolo, which was a town burstling with activities was now lonely and deserted. Something was to be done

😈# An Urgent Meeting #😈

The D.C tried to restore calmness and restore peace in Isiolo but was unable. Politicians failed too. The situation was almost becoming desperate.

It was then that the provincial administration came in. The Provincial Commissioner(P.C) came to address the meeting. His message illustrated in a story was simple and powerful.

How Worthy Are You As A Person?

Bakar looked at a slimmy worm on the ground and termed it as worthless. What importance did it actually have. The worm tried to explain that it aerates the soil by digging it but Bakar did not understand. It tried to convince him that it adds humus to the soil but Bakar never understood too

Finally in desperation and tired of being termed useless, the worm requested Bakar to cut it into two. Bakar wondered what the worm was after. Bisecting it will never prove the worthiness of the worm. It will still remain a useless slimmy worm. In fact it will die

Yet Bakar went ahead and bisected it. The worm had multiplied and actually became two live worms. Each went in different directions and came back at Bakar. He wondered at the miracle and what the worm was upto.

"Lie on the ground so that we also cut you into two," the worms said in unison.

Bakar hung his head in shame. If he is bisected, he will surely die. He is not like the worm after all. The worm was special in a way. He had to agree he was wrong after all.

πŸ˜†# Everyone Is Important In His Own Way #πŸ˜†

The people of Isiolo stopped their fight when they realized that each person is important in his own way. Learn to live with others. They are worthy too. One may not be as rich, as clever, as courageous, as scholarly as you, but has got his own worthiness. He might be an entertainer, a peacemaker or just a silent listener, but that is his worthiness. We are not all the same but we are all unique.
