SteemitMamas | Curie Community Building Support Application

We are so excited to have an opportunity to engage with @curie on this wonderful initiative of community building. I would like to put forward our community @steemitmamas for consideration and I really believe that we provide a special niche that is close to everyone's heart! Come on, who doesn't have a soft spot for their Mama? So we are going to dive in and tell you why @steemitmamas!

What is your community/contest and what is its purpose here on Steem?

@steemitmamas is a community which was re-birthed on the 24th of May 2018 and we are now 4 months old.

The SteemitMamas Mission

Our mission as a community is to empower mothers on their journey here in Steemit. We recognise that our challenges as mothers are unique and having a community that understands this is invaluable. We encourage all pregnant/single/adopting/biological mothers to write, post, share so that we can uplift each other to do much greater things than what they think they can do by themselves. We also encourage them to connect whilst standing out in their own ways and together as a community to contribute to this platform in their experiences and knowledge. We provide support across the globe with a clear message that "You are not alone!"

A Community, A Safe Place

We are also building a safe place for Mamas to explore, learn and adopt blockchain and cryptocurrencies. In a male-dominated space, we make sure that members of the community can openly ask questions to deepen their knowledge. On top of that, we share resources on all things crypto, Steemit and the general marketplace. We also help to guard each other against possible scams by emphasising simple guidelines. I for one am really into crypto and blockchain and want all Mamas to be able to come to a level of understanding of how it can help them to invest and develop alternative streams of income to support their families.

Quality Content On The Steem Blockchain

We continuously encourage our members to work hard on producing quality content as Steemit is a blogging and social media platform. We believe that our posts should always bring some benefit to society at large and being able to earn from this as a secondary bonus! We contribute to people's lives through our posts and all our initiatives reflect this value. For a lot of us, Steem would be the largest holding of cryptocurrency thus investing through powering up will definitely bring benefits to the platform in general.

• Weekly curation post to highlight posts by Mamas
• A 7 day De-Cluttering Write along Challenge to help Mamas do it together with friends
• Guest Posts by different Mamas on topics of interest
• SteemitMamas Catch & Kiss - An effort to boost interaction and engagement on posts via discord
• A Steemitville Odyssey Story Series - This is a fiction write by Mamas taking turns to write a story continuation where the last person stopped.
• Special Write-Along-Challenge - To help Mamas have different topics to write about

How much support are you seeking per month for the two-month period?

150 steem per month

How will this support be used?

Currently we would like to use the support from Curie to go towards the following 3 initiatives and it will be given in the form steem-ua delegations and SBI:-

• Rewards for our weekly curation posts highlighted authors
• Rewards for our Write-Along Participation
• Rewards for the #needleworkmonday weekly featured post authors

Our Write-Along Challenge

Our plans are to continue to do this throughout the 2 months of support as it has proven to be helpful and effective in getting the Mamas involved and active. Here are some of the posts in the Write-Along Challenge.

@shenchen shared her post about her homeschooling journey in conjunction with the @steemiteducation community. She shares about why she decided to homeschool and her desire to homeschool her child whilst encountering objection from her husband. It was heartwarming to know that she managed to overcome the objection and inspiring to see how she set up her beautiful classroom at home!

@happycrazycon decided to take a walk outside and show the world how wonderful and delicious food is here in Malaysia. Food trucks are fun and always available! Not to mention affordable too.

Life in general ebbs and flows...I decided to share a reflection whilst going through a challenging time with parents health and the overwhelming load at work. Hoping to remind everyone that there is a light at end of the tunnel and sharing street photography.

@kaerpediem is a freewrite youtube expert! She shares some health advice and wants to try intermittent fasting. She was also one of the recipients of @hitmeasap's "Donate and Make Minnows Initiative" and moved from Red Fish to Minnowhood in just days!

Community Support - @needleworkmonday

We have been supporting the @needleworkmonday authors and now want to officially help build the @needleworkmonday community. This will form part of our contribution towards the needle arts and crafts!

They really do awesome stuff with a needle. In this feature, knitting, crocheting and upcycling projects make you marvel at the things that you can do. Do check out their recent upcycling challenge!

Approximately how many users participate in your community or contest?

We currently have apprximately 120 members in our community discord and receive approximately 4-8 entries for our initiatives. As of the 10th of August 2018, we have had 80 authors with 796 posts and growing weekly. With this support, I believe that the participation will increase even more!

How will supporting your community or contest help grow the Steem community?

Our challenges as mothers are really unique and tough. We manage the household, children and a lot of us work full time. We believe that our community will increase the participation of mothers in the Steem platform and ecosystem. Our post quality overall is unparalleled and we bring the vital element of the family into the community! After all isn't that what community is all about?

We have also come together to support the #needleworkmonday community as many of our mothers are also keen needleworkers. Hence we are hosting the community in our discord server to help them grow. As we believe in the spirit of community and family, helping another community to grow is also part of our vision here in Steemit.

We are grateful that some of them decided to write a post to share their testimonies with the world whilst others sent us encouraging messages so that we could share them here too.

Since joining @steemitmamas, I do now have a place in our discord channel where other moms understand my hopes and fears without me having to completely make sense about them. People who are not parents do not want to hear this stuff anyway, so I have a safe place to vent.I’m not alone with this issue and see other moms posting about similar things. We can share the joys and the sorrows of our family life and get absolutely amazing support.

Aside from the personal issues, this group has the best system I have seen to support each other on our steemit posts. Many of my other groups seem to drop links and run. @steemitmamas has a place to let others know where you voted and commented on with an honour system. We do not drop our links without voting and commenting for others first.

This is not a tit-for-tat system. We do not need to vote for or comment for the same person who voted for us. Instead, we interact with any @steemitmamas post that draws our attention. I appreciate this freedom so much and have made this a rewarding and satisfying part of my steemit day.

The support from Steemitmamas is beyond just being for each other as mothers but also understanding the challenges faced in our daily life and how we help each other to find solutions or at least provide recommendations. We share spiritual strength, positive moral beliefs and most importantly, we listen to each other which is more than what I can say for our spouse at times... Ha Ha..

When you are not in a situation, you can never understand how people feel. Mothers all around the globe face one common challenge - mama's challenge. Maybe our cases may not be similar but we can certainly wrap our head around some mama's jobs and challenges because it is all about mama's nature and instinct. Thank you so much for @steemitmamas community where mamas all around the globe can share something in common. Being a mom. When mummies share together, we become more alive hence won't turn into another mummies wrap with toilet papers, if you get what I mean. Great community to be in for everyone holding a job called 'mama'.

The one thing steemitmamas sets apart from any other community I’m in is that they encourage interaction and support of each other even when you don’t follow the trail or delegate. All you need to do is upvote and comment a mamas post and you will be able to share yours! It’s the best system and no one else has it! That and they regularly do write-alongs and we support each other on the discord channel

SteemitMamas has been one of the most inspiring communities I am in. I have learnt to much from the different mamas who multitask so well. From strangers to people whom we laugh together, comforting and encouraging each other, sharing tips and information together, we have become quite a close-knit community. The support was evident as to show that besides being mamas, we can all thrive on Steemit, in posting quality contents and discover new found abilities as well. Love this community so much for the people in it!
