These products allow you to smooth and shape your hair whenever you want to change your look, in minutes. In the market you can find many different types, depending on the result you want to achieve. In this article we will explain all types of hair straighteners and the uses that can be made of them.

The success of hair straighteners in recent years has led large companies in the industry to produce new versions of these fantastic products, creating innovative models and extremely versatile use.

Here are the main types of hair straighteners available on the market:

Ceramic-coated plate: this product has ceramic drawing dies, a special material that evenly spreads heat over the hair, so that it smooths it out without damaging it. This type of plate allows you to perform the folding even with only one pass and can also be used by those who have damaged hair;
Ion plate: This system ensures that during use of the plate, ions, negatively charged particles, are emitted to the hair. These atoms break down water molecules on wet skin and moisturize it thoroughly. This makes the canopy smooth, soft and bright, without the odious frizzy effect;
Steam plate: This is a special model of hair plate, used mainly in large hairdressing salons, because of its high cost. This product has a water tank for the water to be inserted. Once turned on, the steam settles on the hair, hydrating it deeply. Unlike other plates, it does not damage the canopy but, on the contrary, nourishes it and makes it softer for longer.
Frisé plate: this type of hair plate has wave drawing lines that can be used to make bulky, rough folds. It is a fun and crazy alternative, usually smooth effect of the plate, useful when you want to change your style;
Wave plate: it has a tubular shape that allows you to create bulky bushings and waves of all kinds. This plate model can have one or more tubes, of different diameter, depending on the final result you want to create;
Professional plate: the most powerful version of the traditional one and is used mainly in beauty salons. It has high performance and is made with innovative quality materials. This product allows you to make durable folds without damaging your hair;
Multifunction plate: it is a product with a rounded design that allows both to smooth hair and to make it wavy. It is a very practical and versatile plate to use. Ideal for those who love to change hairstyle often and do not want to buy many products;
Curly plate: this is an automatic curling irons. By inserting the hair inside this plate you can get the perfect curls without any effort and without the risk of burns. It represents a modern evolution of the classic curling iron, suitable for those who are not familiar with hairstyling;
Travelling plate: this instrument is small and light and has been designed for those who want to settle their hair, even when on the move. It has all the functions of the classic plate, only has small dimensions and a slightly lower power. The travel plate is battery operated and can be carried in a convenient case without taking up space.

Another type of plate, still not very widespread on the market but certainly worth mentioning, is that with ozone technology. This model combines the power of ions with that of ozone, which has a purifying and stimulating effect on the scalp. This hair straightener improves hair oxygenation, frees it from impurities and improves blood circulation. With each pass of the plate, the hair appears cleaner, brighter and stronger.
Some brands, including Italian ones, offer a complete line that also includes a brush and hairdryer. The design of this type of plate is often modern and handy and thanks to the tourmaline coating, protects the hair at every use.
Folding is fast and easy to do and lasts a long time, even on hair that is difficult to tame, such as frizzy hair.

How to use hair straighteners

Hair straighteners can be used in various ways, depending on the result you want to achieve.

For a smooth and silky effect, it is necessary to wash the hair and dry it well, with a hair dryer and brush, before using the plate. Once they are dry, divide them into locks and comb, to eliminate knots.
At this point, apply a thermoprotective hair spray and proceed with the smoothing. Make a single pass per lock and avoid stopping too long on the same spot, so as not to stress your hair unnecessarily. Set a temperature that is appropriate for your hair type. For thin hair, use temperatures of around 180°, while for large, strong hair, high temperatures of over 200° can also be used. Do not take locks that are too big, but proceed step by step to obtain a professional result.

If you want to get curly or wavy hair, immediately after shampooing, dry your hair using the diffuser. Then apply the protective spray over the whole head and divide it into sections. Get small, wraparound locks around the plate or insert them into it, depending on the model you are using. Leave the hair on for a few seconds and then release them. Continue this way for the whole hair. At the end, swipe your fingers between the curls to give it a more natural effect and fix them with lacquer or linseed for a more durable result.
