The local government in Dubai has officially launched its own digital currency called emCash, according to local media. This digital currency will also be used for government and non-government payment services. Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General of the Dubai Economy said that this currency will be considered as a legal currency for various government and non-governmental services, from paying for coffee and school fees to facilities fees and remittances.

Where Ibrahim said:

This project is a great example of the ambition we have met here. We are working to create a completely new economic environment. Using plucin technology, this will make financial transactions cheaper, faster and safer. In addition to demonstrating the huge advantages as a result of adoption of this technology by governments, businesses and customers alike. '
