stuxnet virus is loose in USA

in cyber •  8 years ago

Stuxnet? WTF?.. a software virus, affecting industrial scada type PLC control devices. Lurking in the background, learning what normal conditions look like in the system it is installed in. Then on command locking out local control and turning systems on or off as called for by its unseen creators. Possibly causing complete destruction of the facility... Fuku shima comes to mind, and we can assume that the computers that control the power grid in the USA are also infected and ready to shut down as needed to simulate a supposed foreign cyber attack or EMP. The internet and grid outages world wide in the last few weeks may well be the beta tests. if so, perhaps it would be prudent to plan ahead for long term grid shut downs... Minimum a few solar yard lights. all the way up to battery backup inverters, with solar charging. Interesting times to be sure !
