Price of Shame - Cyber bullying and troll

in cyberbullying •  3 years ago

Public humiliation is a commodity and shame is an industry. In today's world, the world of innovation, the world of the internet, and the web3 everyone's life, data is public property. Hiding identity has become somewhat unattainable. We need the internet we earn, we communicate through the internet. The internet we so much rely on has its Darkside, so dark that people lose their lives out of fear of humiliation. The scandal has become a means of click and views. Trolls of someone's life have become the funniest thing in the world.

The Internet has made our world a global village. Sharing data, communicating with loved ones, and running a business have never been so easy and proficient. The village has its own set of problems. Hacking, cyberbullying, trolling, humiliating someone's image has also become easy and people seem to enjoy this dark trait of the internet. Data of people's lives have become a source of income. The media company, advertisement companies are in love with the scandals of people. They are in love with the click button that the scandal brings to them. Political scandals are the best eye-catcher and view Graber. In the late ’90s during the rising era of the internet and digital media, Monica Lewinsky got caught up in the political scandal. She was publically humiliated and every phone call every message was publicly displayed. Her social identity was so much humiliated, her image was buried to the ground, the scandal spread like wildfire all thanks to the internet and digital media. People are humiliated to death on the internet, everybody can humiliate them. The scandal on the internet becomes the online commodity everyone can get access to and everyone can destroy someone's image.

Compassion and empathy are only the media to change the scenario of cyberbullying, trolls, and harassment. People should have increased compassion toward the victims rather than making a profit out of their misery. Mistakes should be forgiven not to be made troll off. There are various organizations working to stop online harassment and cyberbullying like the Not anymore campaign in Nepal. People on the internet should speak for rights not for attention.

One man's misfortune is another man's fortune, but someone's humiliations and trolls should never be a means of fortune. Compassion and empathy are the most needed thing in this digital world. People are getting more engaged on the internet and losing their social lives and values. You can be anyone you like, but compassion and empathy should always be your side. We should make the internet a safe and productive place.

Well written blog. Cyber bullying is an issue which has been overlooked. It's a challenge to stop trolls and bullying because people can remain anonymous and inflict pain through trolls. Making multiple accounts (which are anonymous) to harass someone isn't anything new. Empathy is only solution to these sort kf problems.
